The reason it doesn't work is because it's not done properly. Levy should stick to the commercial side and let the DoF do his thing, but it doesn't happen.

The managers should get used to being head coaches. All the best run clubs in Europe have a DoF setup and I think it will continue that way. That's the reason Dortmund, RB and Monaco (under Campos) have had great success finding players with little outlay.

Always a bit of confirmation bias in those kind of examples.

Many of the biggest clubs don´t.

If you (or someone) do not like Levy one will not like the current model. I get that. But that doesn´t mean it is the fault of the structure.

Levy gets heat at soon as things go bad, but did anyone complain about the structure in 16/17? Same story at Utd. Did anyone complain when Ferguson and Wenger were working with their directors? Just as many examples of the opposite.

To me the structure isn´t necessarily bad. But regardless of structure you need good people. Is Levy good at those aspects of the game? Honestly hard to tell. Our recruitment, handling of contracts etc. I believe overall has been good, but no DoF and no club will every single year make perfect decisions on transfers etc. - again regardless of which structure you got. Baldini, Monchi etc. were supposed DoF gods, but it haven´t really worked out that way in the end...

SAF and Wenger were anomalies because it's just not normal to be at a club that long in modern football, and to be able to be given that trust.

I have a lot of respect for what Levy has done, but I'm a bit tired of him faffing around with transfers when it seems he doesn't understand the footballing world. He's 100% business.

Perez at RM etc.

There are very few examples of DoFs that have given any team anything close to the stability Levy has given us.

Key word there is "seems". Why didn't we care what he did in 2017? The structure was the same. Seems a bit simplistic to me to blame the structure now.

As for this 100% business he would have sold Eriksen 2 years ago etc. No dividends are paid from the club is another example. So where do people think the money goes then if he is not spending it?

To me the much bigger issue is that our scouts thinks it is a good idea to pay huge fees for the likes of Ndombele, Sissoko (he has developed fine in the end, but never understood why he is among our most expensive players ever). I would blame our scouts long before Levy.

Not to make it in to another long Levy discussion - I agree he has probably made mistakes over the last couple of seasons, but the criticism you repeat here is for me pure speculation. But we do need a scapegoat if he is Levy or Comolli.

So hang on, if the season was cancelled, would that mean we would have Champions League again next season?
Literally nobody knows

all I know is that what ever happens from now, we have more chance to qualify for the CL than before

If I don’t have a fat ginger
I'm sure many of us have had that moment where you wake up after a big night out only to find the female version of Mick Hucknall Staring back at you. Panic sets in. what did I do? then, how do I get outta here? ..... Only to realise its your own gaff ???

He built the Monaco team that sent us out of the CL and won Ligue 1. Bernardo Silva, Mbappe, Martial etc were signed under him. He also found Nicolas Pepe that Lille then sold to Arse for big money.
Campos also has a very interesting history with Mourinho.

When managing Gil Vicente, they beat Mourinho's Porto in 2004 to end a 27 game unbeaten run. After he left managing he returned to football with training management. He made a software called The Mourinho Tactical Board for Jose. He also followed Mourinho to Madrid in 2012.

Among the players he's been a part of signing are Fabinho, Bernardo Silva, Mbappe, James Rodriguez, Martial, Mendy, Bakayoko. Lemar, and Pepe

Hoping Joe Lewis starts to exert a bit of authority over Our Daniel and supports Mourinho with Campos, regardless of Levy’s position.

I genuinely cannot remember how that relationship went, so not sure if your comment was sarcastic or not.

Was genuine, we signed 7 players in1 summer, seemed to me he was handed a budget and was allowed to do whatever he wanted within it with no meddling.

Am I the only one that can see a situation where the DOF agrees a deal with a club, only to hand it over to Levy to finish who then tries to renegotiate things?

More accurate description...”Am I the only one that can see a situation where the DOF agrees a deal with a club, only for Levy to fuck it all up by offering £8.50 and four cans of Stella!”
