Sissoko got pelters from the fans before he turned it around. His issue was confidence, not application.

Ndombele needs to do something now to give the fans a reason to get behind him. We love a tryer, so even if it isn't quite coming off for him, if we see the effort and application then he'll have the fans, and the manager, fully behind him.

Well, most of them at least.
I disagree with the confidence bit. For sissoko, it was purely positional. As soon as he was used centrally he was a changed man.

Edit. I think when used on the right, he played with gusto and confidence. It just didnt suit his skill set.

Who knows what has been said in training, maybe Jose has wispered sweet nothings in his earhole, stroked both cheeks (will leave that to your imagination) offered him baths of milk and honey whilst saying 'I want YOU to have my babies'
Maybe he just said terrify the opposition by pouting as you mince by. I wonder whats for tea, oh no not more humble pie
If he's doing that I'm not surprised Ndombele's playing badly.

That too ;)

But early doors he couldn't trap a bag of cement, he was really struggling with his confidence, which being played on the right may well have contributed to.

But in the end he knuckled down, worked hard and played through his troubles until it all came good and he had fans singing his name.

The key being he worked hard. Ndombele does that and he'll be adored by Spurs fans. Combine his talent with Sissoko's work ethic? What a player we'd have.

Definately. If he can nail whatever the issue is, then he could be a world beater. Would love to know what the main issue is. Can't be just fitness. Surely.

It sounds, and of course I'm conjecturing here, attitudinal. He's been described previously as finding tracking back 'boring'. OK, that was some time ago, but it speaks of his attitude towards the game. Then again, someone will often call something they don't understand 'boring', which may then cast doubt on his ability to play the game at a high level altogether.

Every decent footballer should have some understanding of what's required of them. If he can't grasp the fundamentals of team play (i.e that every player has to contribute to both defence and attack according to their position) then that's a big problem and not one easily solved.

That said, Mourinho will have worked with him enough to know whether that's the case and I don't see him calling out a player on something he simply isn't able to do as opposed to something his unwilling to do. Again, looking back on his history, he was recognised as talented but also described as arrogant. This suggests (again, very much conjecturing here) he may be like another Taraabt, who felt his talent meant he could do as he liked.

In Ndombele's case, he found himself in the lower French leagues, bucked his ideas up and made his way up into Ligue 1. Now, he's taken another step up, but needs to understand that talent alone will never be enough. In an elite league like the Premiership, he has to work as well.

It's like my father always says: if you work hard, you may succeed. But if you don't, you won't.

Sissoko's attitude was bad. In the transfer window he came to us when he was at Newcastle he was fluttering his eyes at Arsenal and saying how much he wanted to play for us. no one came in for him as he was terrible and then we signed him as a panic buy "winger". Fast forward a few years and we overtake arsenal and suddenly he wants to play for us.

Well, he may well be changing his mind again at this rate!

I'm no fan of Carra, but great to see one media actually analysing Ndombele's performance (or lack of effort) rather than just focusing on spinning a story from Jose's words. Those clips of Ndombele ambling about the pitch and marking himself by not making space away from the closest Burnley players are damning. All I hope from this is that he gets the message it's not good enough, accepting that he only has himself to blame, and then knuckles down to get himself into shape and fight for the team. My god he has all the talent in the world, talent that other footballers can only dream of. World class ability with pub team mentality and physicality. Fingers crossed he can kick on now.
But others in the clip did the same. There weren't ample clips of him so called hiding, What about what Ndombele did on the ball.

Can't help but think (know) Ndombele would have either improved us in the second half last night, given us more attacking impetus, or at the very least allowed one of our tired an overworked players near to injury, according to Mourinho, a bit of a rest.

Seems like real stubbornness not to have involved either him or Parrott.

Yeah. Pretty damning that Jose would rather bring on a youth team player for his first team debut than this guy.

Looks like this is going the same way that his relationship with Martial and Pogba at United went.

After Ndombele gave that disgraceful performance straight next game after that viral comedyshow he was never going to play a part.

I'll defend Ndombele and Winks.

I see qualities in both.

However Ndombele was ripped in to after an unconvincing performance in a certain system. Low and behold playing 5 at the back again with no striker leads to Wink and Lo Celso to have no authority in midfield.

My sympathy towards our midfielders comes form a position that I think we are not playing to their strengths and they are then being scapegoated.

Why publicly criticise him to ' get a response' and then make him travel if there was no chance he would play a part?

Might as well have worked on tactics and fitness at the training ground or just told not to bother turning up until the summer transfer window if that's the case.
