For me, I hate the contempt I have for Spurs fans now. My dad lovingly brainwashed me into supporting this shit-show and I felt a real affinity for any **** I saw with a Spurs cockerel tattoo or wearing a Spurs shirt in public. I don't know why, whether it's social media, the fact I go on this forum and have to mix with rabble like @Spurs_Bear or something else - but I just can't stand our fans at the moment.

Awww Bromley you poor bugger... me and @Spurs_Bear want to give you a group hug mate :D

On a serious note I think Eric will come back stronger for this. I hope he stays and cements his place. Timing is shit. He was starting to look the part again.

There’s a part of me that thinks, “Dier, you unprofessional twat- that’s going to cost us.”

Then there’s a bigger part of me that admires those furious qualities of wading into a stand and confronting a problem that, instinctively at least, is manifestly wrong. If his brother was getting grief, and perhaps this has happened before, then I can’t help but admire those protective instincts. It shows fire and guts, and if the chips are down then Dier is a man you’d want on your side. He showed more heart last night than I’ve seen all season from anyone , even if it wasn’t exactly on the pitch.

If he can continue to get himself back in form, this could be a real catalyst for him. It didn’t seem to harm Cantona

We seriously have one of the worst fanbases in the league.
Not as vile as West Ham and the Chavs, but a seriously dislikable fanbase nonetheless.
Obv a sweeping generalisation, and there are a lot of sound fans on here and at games, but we have an unbelievable number of fucking morons amongst us and they seem to be multiplying.
We have the most entitled fan base ever.

I thought Jose summed it up well. As a professional he shouldn't have done it, but as a human you're not just going to sit back and watch someone have a go at your brother. Presumably the club will have caught the entire incident on CCTV so will be able to see exactly what Dier did and if the idiot he went after actually attacked his brother, or if it was just an argument.

I think he'll be extremely lucky to escape a ban, and it could be a very long one if he's been caught throwing punches.

I was in block 104 unfortunately left before it all kicked off. I do remember though watching with interest at the end of full-time when a guy (with a lanyard on) was standing talking to someone in the crowd, seated closely behind the dugout, for a while in what looked like a heated way. There was a woman standing near him who he talked with and then chatted with one of the Spurs officials below. At the time I thought someone had probably been shouting stuff that was out of order and was being remonstrated with. This might of course be nothing to do with what happened but there are too many people who are downright abusive. Not helped by the easy access to large amounts of alcohol no doubt

It’s not just our fans.

Tbh back on the days when I bothered going to England matches I actually found the fans even worse and even more scummy.

It just seems to be a thing that football either attracts or makes people turn into ****s, but is also a reflection of the behaviour of a lot of society in general really.

This. The idea that our fans have suddenly turned into something else is nonsense. Of course there are simply more there now that the capacity has gone up.

I think those that think it’s changed either haven’t had ST that long or are just looking back in a slightly rose tinted way.

A significant proportion of football fans are ( and have always been ) pissed up, thick *****..... and if they are not pissed up, thick ***** in the rest of their lives they certainly turn into them as soon as they go within a few miles of a football stadium.
