This would be the final and longest nail in our current coffin, yet can anyone really blame Harry? He's the best number 9 arguably in world football, or certainly one of the best. There have never even been rumours of potential departures or him being unhappy, in the time we've shown some promise.

We now find ourselves needing much surgery, without the funds to have the said surgery. He deserves to end his career having won things, not try and get us into 5th place.

I would be so very sad to lose Harry, but we, as a Club, deserve to lose him.

Soldado, Janssen & Llorente.

WT actual F goes on at our club?
Let's not put Llorente in the Soldado/Janssen bracket.

Llorente was already in his thirties when we bought him, with his best years long behind him. Even then he gave 100% during every match he played, and had a huge impact in the CL run last season. Soladao was supposedly in his "prime" when he was with us, and Janssen was, well.... Janssen.

Llorente was a world class striker in his prime, neither of the other two were/are.

Whilst I completely agree, I don't think Llorente was ever world class. He was very good, but world class is a term we should preserve for those who truly are world class, like the Kanes of the world.

But you're quite right and I agree with everything you mentioned.

I'd like to think Kane would want to go out on a season where he gives it his all, scores 30 goals etc. Not injured (unlikely, i know) and not a damp squib. Completely unfounded and probably way too optimistic, but we'll see.

I wouldnt blame him at all. Have loved watching him.

But Daniel, this is what happens when you keep refusing to strengthen when in a position of strength.

It sends a messase to our top stars that we're not demonstrating enough ambition on the pitch, and even worse we're witnessing significant regression.

That period of inactivity has cost us hugely.

This. Kane going would mark the end of our recent, mini-golden period, and usher in a return to mid-table frustration. Won't matter to the board, however, since now they have the cash cow of the stadium, and know they can always make a pile hiring it out for boxing matches, etc.

Yeh sure . But this doesn't mean that somehow we are fated never to buy a decent striker, while the rest of the Prem can do it with little fuss.
Problem is strikers cost a premium. They don’t represent as good pound for pound value as other players and I don’t think our dear leader appreciates it.

I think this is it. Plus, are there actually that many good ones out there, I'm not sure there are.

Yup. The close season where we bought no one was the real beginning of all this. I reckon Poch had a part to play in that as well.

Since then we've just gone down and down and now the decline is accelerating.

This is such a shame. I recognise progress has been made off the pitch, but on the pitch it's been a stark decline and we only have ourselves to blame.

Whatever you think about the relative quality of the squads, the likes of Wolves and Leicester are now better teams than us, and have invested so much better than us for the last three years it's a joke.

Couldn't blame him at all - we're a club on the slide
