Dele Alli stormed off angrily, slamming his water bottle against the ground, when he was substituted midway through the second half of Tottenham's 1-0 loss to RB Leipzig.

Did’nt see the incident, but if he’s angry about his own performance, or even angry at being subbed, then good.

I don’t want to see players happy at being subbed or happy with a poor performance.

Fair enough with the substitution - but Jose's comments about how we improved after he went off, I felt were unnecessary. I know Jose likes to play mind games, even with his own players, but I thought this was a misjudgment from him. Dele has been struggling for form, but he's playing in a makeshift formation and out of position. We're not playing to his strengths but he gives everything and has been quite happy to run himself into the ground.

I know Jose must be frustrated with the current squad depth, but don't see the point of hitting out like this at one of our players.

He let his emotions gets the better of him I feel and rather than protecting his players, he's put the spotlight on Dele more than it needed to be.

Dele's a strong character, so wouldn't be surprised to see him on Saturday play a blinder. He's basically a senior of this squad and I hope he steps it up. But Jose, please, put your arms around these players, they're giving everything as far as I can see and they deserve both respect and to be defended and protected from the media by their manager.

I thought Dele had every right to be angry with his own performance, and we were better when he went off. Overall he was meh
I haven't seen a replay of the chance he had from Bergwijn's parried shot, but in realtime at the game, I thought he should have done better.

He was offside anyway so it wouldn't have mattered.

He should be angry at himself. He didnt really offer any contribution. He was playing up with Moura a lot, and also in defence so I'm not sure of he was conserving energy, but he looked sluggish and didnt do half the work Moura did. His work rate, for the most part was not what you'd expect from a player at this level.

Although, I noticed a few times, that players were having infield discussions about defensive tactics and there was a.lot of shoulder shrugging. I'm.not sure they totally get what JM wants yet. I got the impression there was some positional confusion relating to tactics.

We did look better without Dele to be fair.

But we missed a trick, we should have started with Tanguy, rather than Fernandes.

Dele and the complete forward line was feeding off scraps for the majority of the game.

I hope we get it right on Saturday

According to the stats he covered more ground than any other Spurs player, even after the 95 minutes.

Fernandes was on to dig out aurier and offer a rw option. Take him off and the shape changes.

He did. But he didnt appear to bust a gut from the front in doing so. I could cover a ton of ground, slowly. He wasnt terrible, and as I said played in defence and up front so its possible he played accordingly. But, he looked sluggish to me.

Sorry, Doc, but I don’t see that.

Mourino said that Dele knows why he was taken off and that we improved after doing so. That doesn’t necessarily mean he was blaming Dele for the poor play before. He may well have been saying that the change in personnel brought about a change of approach, which improved our performance. He substituted Ndombele for Gedson at the same time. Wouldn’t that have had an effect also? The difference being that Fernandes didn’t express any anger and so Mourinho wasn’t asked about that.

This is just media vulture scavenging - trying to invent a story where one doesn’t exist. The article says that Dele seemed surprised to be taken off - that’s just basically setting the scene for suggesting that he was angry at Mourinho for subbing him. And then we’re left to draw the obvious, but in no way substantiated, inference.

If you look further down, he praises all his players for their mentality. Doesn’t that apply to Dele as well?

It’s molehills out of mountains.

It's quite unbearable watching how much lack of defending Aurier gets away with, considering he is meant to be a defender.
Every side knows that is a huge weakness for us and plays the majority of their attacking game down his side.
I'd sooner see Tanganga there and allow a midfielder in front of him to play freely, than trying to squeeze in a defender, who rarely wants to do exactly that..

You can see the media are starting to hunt for stories - Jose not happy, players not happy with Jose, Levy penny pinching, blah blah.
Dele never looks happy when substituted - I remember him chucking something around when he was substituted in Madrid at the CL final, but would much prefer that to someone who can't wait to get off and get their tracksuit on.
Last night was disappointing, but they were a good, organised side and not second in the Bundesliga for nothing.
I have pretty much written off this season, but even with my Spurs dna pessimism borne out of years of frustration I genuinely believe that with a couple more additions - a centre half who really attacks the ball and a defensive midfielder in the Dembele mould we will be a very competitive side next season.

Depends on the player to an extent. Some need an arm around them and some need a kick up the arse. The Sheffield United manager doesn't hold back and he's definitely getting a shift out of his players.

It really is fascinating seeing how anti-Mourinho the media is from the other side of the coin.

I don't want to jump on Mourinho's man management but he needs to handle Dele better. Dele played in a tactically passive team only when he was removed did Mourinho change tactics but we still lost playing more progressive.

I don't think he was, but I think he should have been because he was poor. Running around a lot doesn't equate too playing well, it's what he does with the ball that counts & he's not doing much with the ball at his feet & he's simply not affecting the game.

The msm have had a hard on for Dele for a long time now - watching , waiting, and hoping for a fall.

The tactics were poor. Saying Dele played poor is just poor
