I am not convinced about this "soak up the pressure and play on the break" philosophy we seemed to have adopted in recent games.

Lamela gave good examples of how you can make things happen when you press instead of ball watching
He, Lloris, winks, Lo Celso or Sanchez are my contenders for MOTM.

Le Celso........he's going to be absolutely brilliant for us, and what a bargain at around £45m. Shame some of the others didn't step up.

Special mention to Lloris who made a few key saves, otherwise they would've been out of sight. Also liked Lamela's cameo. Brought some passion to the team in what was a poor performance. Didn't understand the tactics either for the first 70 minutes.

Im going to be honest, the tactics are making the attacking players look worse than what they are. The tactics are cowardice.

Lo Celso was fantastic.
Winks and Sanchez both very good, and without Lloris it could have been 3 or 4.

Two subs changed the match. Unsurprisingly. If either of them could retain fitness, they’d be in the starting eleven, for me.

Lamela

Only started to play with the ball on the ground and some tempo when he came on.

Lloris - 8 - Kept the score respectable when it could easily have been another 7 goals like Bayern.
Aurier - 5 - Constantly out of position first half. Werner schooled him big time.
Toby - 6 - Too slow with the ball and his long passes were pretty lame most of the time.
Sanchez - 7 - Once again our best defender, if only he could bring the ball out of defence!
Davies - 6 - Unsurprisingly he looked leggy after only his second game in four days after a long injury lay-off. Very surprised he started given Tanganga, who has a lot more pace and aerial ability, and has excelled at LB in his absence.
Gedson - 4 - Was running where Mourinho told him too, just to block their passing angles. Offered zero when we had the ball. Didn't help Aurier at all against Werner.
Winks - 6 - Once Lamela got everyone gee'd up he finally started being more urgent in possession. Very pedestrian first hour though.
Lo Celso - 8 - MOM with Lloris. Only outfield player to get any credit in both halves.
Dele - 6 - Needs a team set up to his strengths and tonight he was a passenger who worked hard for zero reward.
Moura - 6 - Put a real shift in. Challenged for everything, but did not run the channels as he should have.
Bergwijn - 6 - Didn't really get a sniff. More careful in possession than Dele or Moura though.

Ndombele - 8 - On that showing he has to start.
Lamela - 8 - On that showing he has to start.

Mourinho - 3 - Jose did exactly what he did against Liverpool with exactly the same result - a pathetic loss after a stupidly passive hour followed by a rousing last 20 minutes when the team actually were allowed to try and play football once it was too late. We really should have been 4-0 down at Half Time, and 6-0 down before he made any changes. Very surprised that Aurier didn't get hooked at HT as he was totally rubbish first half - constantly out of position and constantly giving it away. I do find it hard to blame the players when it is clearly the tactics that are wrong though. Also worth noting that Jose has not won a CL knockout game for over 6 years. I honestly think that with Kane and Son in the side we would have seen exactly the same tactics and performance. Lame.

Lloris 9 -world class

Aurier 5.5

Toby 5.5 - not Very commanding
Sanchez 10- best CB display I've seen this season

Davies 4 - apart from clumsy pen thought he was just a training cone out there

Gedson 5- thought that was pretty vanilla
Winks 7 - bad then awoken when ndombele was on /system change

Lucas 6- huffed and puffed as usual

Dele 5.5 - some decent things, worked hard but just not really working for him

Bergwijn 5.5 - good in first half, thought he completely vanished in the second apart from that last minute run

Lo celso 9 - Cashmere

Ndombele 8- what a diff it makes for Winks and celso having someone to work with

Lamela 8.5 - more of him needed, he really doesn't care who the opponent is, always imposes his will

Jose 3- weak , what kinda tactic was that until they scored.

Lo Celso MOM.

I don’t mind a tactic of playing on the break with our pace. Don’t forget we weren’t the best at breaking through teams when we had 70% possession (once we lost our pacey fullbacks)..

The problem is that we seem incapable of soaking up pressure. And that renders the tactic rediculous.

Again, Ndombele looked good as did Lamela. RBL had run themselves into the ground by that point though, so..... but I’d still prefer Ndombele to start and make us more proactive in transition earlier in games.

Shout out to lloris, kept us in it.

Sanchez, Gio and Lloris fantastic.
Lamela and Ndombele great
Winks terrible first haff, very good second

Aurier and Lucas terrible.

Davies is bang average and that was one of the stupidest things I have seen one of our players do this season, and that says a lot.

Gedson ok.

Toby, Bergwijn and Alli below par.

Our tactics are horrible to watch...Southampton came to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and schooled us even though we won the game that was a wake up call. The football World would of watched this CL game and thought how poor was Tottenham...if you're winning you can sugar coat it.

Mourinho has reverted to type that could mean trophies but the FOOTBALL, the football... the football... the football football football is painful to watch.

Sanchez Lo Celso Lloris Alli Thought played well the rest were OK

Think you've got alot right there. However:

Davies 5 (for pen)
6 is generous for Dele
Very harsh on Gedson.

No chance same tactics / performance with HK and Son.

Sanchez, Lo Celso and Lloris I really liked. Winks did fine. Bergwijn also OK. He struggles to keep up for 90mins. Don´t really blame him.

Our best full back was on the bench. Alli and Lucas not good enough.

Gio, Sanchez, Lloris were very good. As were Lamela and Nd when they came on, completely changed the game.

Lack of striker makes some of our attacking players look worse than they actually are
