I love that about him. Its better than the game. He needs to get us into a groove not sure whats lacking

Its mainly fitness imo. Jan,Dier look physical finished . son, Lucas look knackered and Ndombele the least said about the better imo

A bad performance but many positives Gedson looked good / Dele was superb / Winks ran non stop / all without Lo Celso and no Stevie wonder I also thought Dier looked OK

Think he was fuming at being taken off or he realises his time at the top level is up? If so I can’t believe how quickly it’s happened as he was virtually our player of the season last year!

I think he actually seems depressed. With all the hype around that I thought someone else might have noticed.

Only explanation can be they tired, as we were totally outplayed for most of that game.

Probably is if his time at the top has come. Gary Neville had the same thing when he got taken off away at West Brom and he told sit Alex that day that it was his final season and sir Alex said yep I know lol!!

Jan, Toby, Ndombele and Dier was just too much. The core of the team lacking drive and mobility afforded them far too much time and space to do pretty much what they wanted. Looked pedestrian. until the changes and Son and Moura for all their greed and poor decisions were lacking bodies around them and were isolated as the lack of mobility around them told.

Lo Celso has gone from bit part to integral jn the space of a few weeks...

You can see now just what Jose does. He wins. We no longer need to play well to do it. I dont like this style of play, especially when we look so disjointed in attack. But you just know that Jose will make us nigh on impossible to beat and that we will produce loads of victories like tonight. Soak it up for an hour and then turn it on. The more the players buy in to it and get used to each other, the better we will play.

Not how I want us to play, but we need to become winners and Jose can do that for us.

I’m hoping you’re right here, that Jose is instilling a winning mentality into the players, and that with a few back from injury, and a few more additions, he’ll have the squad shaped to start and marry up performances with results.

Yeah he's a definite concern.

He was dead on his feet after 30 mins. I was shocked to be honest. The guy has obviously got a lot of talent but I don’t think he has the mentality to make it for us. If he can’t get fit in 7 months to play one half of football I don’t know what to say

You can’t really expect anything different when we have two Attacking Midfielders injured, one ineligible, one slightly injured on the bench, & our only striker injured too.

The bench alone tells you we don’t have much else to choose from, we can’t chuck all the available Attackers in one line up.
Martin Jol used to talk of attacking and defence blocks. If you want to be thought as an attacking side you'll have 5 attackers.
That starting 11 had 3.5 attackers and I was being generous as despite sessegnon and dombele combining for the own goal, they offered nothing going forward. In practice it was an attacking block of 2.
That first half couldn't have played out much differently.
It wasn't boring, but Southampton provided the thrills. Thanks.

Dele and Gedson brought us up to 4 and with Aurier at last getting forward, Dier covering, we were an attacking side again.

I don't know what mourinho meant by the best side lost.
His selections absolutely dictated how the game played out.

I think Jose will make us a great side next season. He'll get us top 4 and a trophy this season.

That wasn't that bad. We now have a break. Hopefully they have 4 days off and a week working on what he wants to do.

I dont think we'll win anything if we consistantly give the ball away as we have been doing. The opposition keeping good possession is one thing but us consistantly giving it back through head down and run through them and poor decision making (even against weaker sides like Norwich) is another entirely.
