Sadly this will result in a likely 6th place finish getting dumped by Leipzig out of the champions league, little chance of winning the fa cup .

surely it would have been worth taking a chance and spending on a striker . How much would we lose in revenue not qualifying for the champions league ?? More than it would cost to get a decent forward in .

just seems ludicrous that we probably now won’t get the goals that would help close the gap on Chelsea . Madness
I’ll ask again who do you think we should have got? This is not a video game! Chelsea, ManU, West Ham, even Barcelona all wanted a striker. Who did they get?

I know, I'm not saying it will happen, but if he kicks off something fierce he might get his way. I doubt it, but you never know.

Lucky his club isn’t owned by any sort of Russian Mafia ...

Oh.

Not only that, it could very well have been an either/or scenario regarding Bergwijn. You have a choice, you can spend €30m on 22 year old highly rated Bergwijn, OR commit that money to a stopgap / mid rate striker. I know which I'd choose, planning for the long term.

We should have replaced llorente when he left in the summer. Bit of a joke that the 8th richest club in the world has one CF

The positive for me to come out of this window is the amount of youth players going out on loan - we will learn so much about our academy in the next 6/12 months

Out of all the names mentioned he would be the best shot as an immediate replacement.

None of them are even on a same planet when it comes into a need of striker - we have new manager whose playing style relies on proper striker and we have 0 fit on books.

Barca got Messi and greizmann that are fit
Chelsea got Abraham and Batshuyai that are fit
United have Martial and Greenwood.

They are not as desperate as we are

WE DO NOT HAVE A FIT STRIKER

Agree with most of this post, but what happens if someone else gets injured? Others mentioned that if Sonny or Moura starting hitting the target, we'll be far better off and we will be and the addition of Begwijn may make for a very fluid attack but we're walking closer to the edge of the cliff than anyone should feel comfortable doing.

That's always the case though, and not just for us. What happens to Liverpool if Salah and Mane both get injured, etc...

The worry now is Son, so we need to be careful with him. But i think we have enough options elsewhere in midfield to weather another injury or two.

For comparison Kane (17) and Son (12) have the same goal total as Salah (16) and Mane (13) at Liverpool.

Sorry this is now pretty off thread, so i'll stop.

I wonder how many professional clubs in world football will start February with not one recognised striker?

You know that City actively chose not to play strikers as recently as a couple of weeks ago right?

We have goalscorers in the team. They’re not in form. But an actual striker can easily not be in form. See all strikers (save for Kane) since Berba.

I doubt it because even if we do we will be back here again on both summer and January deadline day wondering why we haven’t finished assembling our squad. It’s going to be worse in the summer too as they are expected to change the window back to how it previously was. There’s a meeting next month to discuss it.

There would always be rants, no matter who we buy or don’t buy, but if we have CL, then there would be less rants (hopefully).

With all respect to JJ and he's had some wonderful genuine information in the past but the only ITK I can put my full faith in is @iGi.Jaydee
Isn’t that cos he only states when official announcements will be ...ie when the deal is all done... the others talk about who we are tracking
