It's why we keep getting battered in midfield, especially when one of them has to cover a fullback playing as a winger.
Which makes you wonder, again, what exactly we were thinking in the summer when we purchased who we purchased.

Hoping, bar the goal we conceded, we see a performance similar to Liverpool where the eleven on the pitch looked like they understood what they were meant to be doing.

I just think it'll be bumpy here on out and the fact we still don't have a recognised striker, that clearly Mourinho wants, we'll struggle up top.

Probably going to still be rough, could even get a little rougher before it gets better on the pitch. Just have to lump it (yes I know, some will say like Mourinho's tactics) until then.

I think in the summer Poch was expecting Dier to make a better recovery than he has. Was probably also hoping Wanyama could string a few games together.

Dier perhaps, Wanyama I can't agree with, that much is clear due to the fact the small fry offer that was accepted for him in the summer and he turned down. He is done.

Aurier is just so not good enough to play this advanced RB role.

issues with how Jose wants to play are:
•missing 1st choice GK
•Aurier isn’t a RW and gives the ball away far too often
•Jan is not his old best anymore currently
•No obvious decent LB choice currently until Davies is back
•No fit DM without ndomble and dier being out of form
•Dele isn’t good enough in my opinion to be playing that n.o 10 role, gives the ball away far too often and not enough of a constant threat
•Lucas isn’t consistent enough and also gives the ball away far too often
•Our only actual goal scorer is out for mabye the rest of the season.

so sure blame Jose all you want as the football is quite hit and miss but the issues he has are the same if not worse than what poch had at the end of his tenure when we were averaging relegation form.

we need more new players simple as that.

If I was him I would be breaking Levy’s door down demanding a striker, season is falling apart & we could be out the FA cup by the time the window closes

Would love to know what part of what I said is wrong ?

Absolutely fucking desperate for a DM and a striker and all we're credibly linked with is yet more AMs. I cannot believe how fucking inept the transfer setup is, and how is has been allowed to carry on in this state for years and years. Our recruitment is unconscionable.

There is fuck all point bringing a manager of Mourinho's standing to the football club and then not offering him some backing in the areas with the most glaringly obvious holes.

Again, it's fucking laughable.

Our transfer committee is headed by an incompetent, short, bald man. Are you really surprised?

I reckon this game could serve as a base for our team and you can see how just a few changes will greatly improve things.

We went with

Gazza
Aurier Alder Vert Tanganga
Winks
Lo Celso Dele
Lamela Moura Son

I've kept Lo Celso/Dele positions simple for now but dele is further forward. Now you replace Vert with Tanganga and bring Davies in if you want to persist with Aurier and then you bring Ndombele in for Winks at the base of that midfield and also get somebody who can hold the ball up and already we'd vastly improve I reckon. Think Jose did well today with what he had available but I think those changes coming back from injury will be a great start. Then hopefully we can discuss adding in Sanchez, Sessegnon and Gedson.

I get the feeling that Levy believed the squad was good enough and that all had gone wrong was the divide within the dressing room. As though he were in total denial that the summer 2018 and January 2019 transfer windows destroyed the project. It should be perfectly fucking clear to him now that it is his own neglect of the squad, not something wrong with the manager, that is to blame for our precipitous decline. Yet he'll do nothing about it.
