So now we’ve been linked by ITK to:

CB: Koulibaly, Varane and Dias
RB: Ferguson and Atal
AM: Eze
FW: Bale and Bowen

Bizarre that no DM has been confirmed...

Must have missed that too. Just seems funny that the confirmed interest is not particularly in line with this forum's understanding of what we need i.e. a proper defensive midfielder.

Unbelievable. Any idiot can see that from a purely performance perspective, a deep lying defensive playmaker is by far our most pressing need.

KK would be a statement, and I am not for a second suggesting I would be unhappy with that - but him transforming us like VVD I find a stretch right now simply because of the two fullbacks pool have vs ours as well as their incredibly hard working but technical CM. Needs to be a collective recruitment and full back / DM is also critical before we get excited imo. Be a good starting point though

dragon1 again: A lot with levy depends who we can move out and for what right now only solid outs are for kwp and Ccv

Lovely that you're back in the ITK-whoring game Dov, much appreciated (y)

This sounds a lot more like what we've heard before, and it's just plain common sense really. Our squad is bloated as it is, and we obviously need to shift fringe and back-up players. We obviously need reinforcements in certain areas as well, but I'm not confident that will happen until we move some out first.

I'm surprised as well that anyone seems willing to take CCV on a perm, presumably for a fee as well.

Quite frustrating, you just know if we do anything it'll be in the last few days, despite us having the Norwich and Watford games in mid Jan that we could use the reinforcements for, let alone potential further FA Cup games.

Liverpool do their January transfer business in December (Van Dijk and Minamino), they are showing Levy and the other top clubs up on every level these days.

Imagine this being remotely surprising, some of you do it to yourselves, you really do.

To be fair last summer I think most were all pretty impressed with the business Levy did.

Club record signing before preseason (very unexpected), then 2 more late on who couldn't have featured beforehand due to injuries and international duty. Significant net spend too.

Effectively we're just going to be stuck with the same squad pretty much for the rest of eternity as Levy won't want to lose anyone on a free and just keep renewing. Skipp will play well into his 50's

But are any of the players we'd want in those positions available now?

If Koulibaly is available now and can improve us we'd be stupid to ignore the possibility of signing him, especially as Jose has been after him for years.

Spending so much on koulibaly seems like a desperate fix to a much larger problem.
Any team with our combination of full backs and lightweight midfield would concede goals regardless of cb personnel.
Would rather focus on full back replacements and a dm. We can use foyth, tanganga, dier, Toby and sanchez for cb.
