Spurs cock-up of the decade

It’s very much the time to be choosing teams of the decade, goal of the decade, player of the decade etc, but I think it only fair we give everyone the chance to name the most notable Tottenham cock-up of the decade too. I’m not looking to run down this fine club of ours, but, equally, I think it’s fair to recognize that what, on the whole, was a relatively decent ten years of football also included its face-palm moments both on and off the pitch.

You can go serious if you want. You can bemoan how we handled various managerial comings and goings, our failures in the transfer market (both who we bought and who we didn’t) or any other decisions at Board level.

Ideally, though, you’ll be keeping it light-hearted. What’s the most egregious sitter we missed? The worst tackle we made? The most abject defending we displayed? Our worst player this decade?

In all this, do keep a sense of perspective. We may not quite be where we want to be this season and we certainly haven’t achieved what we wanted to in terms of trophies, but there have been some great moments.

This thread, however, is not for those. It’s for the moments that were not great. Like the one below.

I was bloody livid when it happened, not least because it was against Liverpool. But, seeing as we still won the game, then I’m quite content to look back and name this Gareth Bale goal as my favourite Spurs cock-up of the decade. What’s yours?

The summer 2018 transfer window
Honestly, all joking aside, I don't think the club have done a more self harming thing, than failing to freshen up and strengthen the squad that summer. The drastic and appalling decline we've seen this season is entirely down to that.

I don't remember that. In fact I don't remember much about games. When I met up, via social media, with old pals who I attended about 200 games with when we were kids, they were talking about games that I've no recollection of. But I was definately there. I had to have been. I just couldn't, and still can't, remember.

So, I doubt that I'll be able to contribute much to this thread. Which is a shame.

Worst sitter missed: Dele vs Stoke. We won 4-0 so it didn't matter but this was at 0-0.

The worst tackle we made? Probably Gazzaniga against Chelsea tbh. I still don't understand what he was trying to do.

Our worst player this decade? Many candidates from the AVB era, Fazio and Soldado probably stand out.

Not backing harry redknapp in the transfer window when we had Bale and Modric in the team.

Summer 2018 and January 2019 transfer windows ( The root cause of our fall from a top 3 club to a top 6 club).

Poch constantly starting Kane after injury recovery instead of easing him back by bringing him on as a sub ( i.e. burnley game).

Not our cock up, but the Adebayor foul that wasn't called on Stalteri. We don't concede after that and we go clear of Arsenal

On reflection this may have happened in 2009 going by the kit, but the scars remained into the 2010's. That thousand yard stare, poor bastard was never the same when he came back from Nam...

The last part of the 2011/12 season, where we let Arsenal back in, not strengthening, Redknapp England debacle, Rosy the dog, Chelsea winning the CL.
