Racist abuse in our stands, we need to face it if it’s there.

I haven't heard racist abuse at our place before but that doesn't mean it wont happen. With the increase in capacity it's bound to bring in the odd fan that doesn't understand our club. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened but I like to think as a club we'll do a lot more about it than West Ham or Chelsea. That being said there's also a chance it was misheard or misinterpreted. There's so much suspicion of racism at the moment it's bound to happen at times too. I guess we just wait and see what comes out.

"We are able to track every fan via the cameras and have spent many hours reviewing CCTV footage"

Just hope they don't release some of the comments made by Spurs fans about Spurs players.

As pointed out, it has been usually quite easy and quick to pinpoint these cases and as it has been made out that it was more than one (Rudiger spoke about couple), it should be very easy. Reading between the lines we've contacted Rudiger to point to the direction and If we still can't single it out, in all likelihood it didn't happen.

I hope for Rudigers sake he is telling the truth. He was standing 30 yards away and the only one to hear it, and not one Spurs fan witnessed it or no CCTV picks it up.

I’ve just been re watching the recording. It happens at about 62 mins and 42 seconds. Rudiger turns back and points at someone. I think block 248 or 249. It’s going to be quite easy for the club to pinpoint that area and it sounds like they are already doing it. I reckon he misheard booing for something else. Obviously any racism is awful but I hope he is shown to be wrong just on grounds of not wanting Spurs to be culprits. If he is wrong then as others say it raises other issues as well.

He either saw someone do a monkey impression or nothing happened. No way he heard monkey chants and no one else did. The club have looked and have found nothing. If the police find nothing then should rudiger come out and apologise?

I will not deny Son was stupid

It was very silly of him but I’m sure we’ve all done things in the heat of the moment and clearly the players were very frustrated too. It’s something that I’m sure will be eradicated from his game in time. Some might even say it was the fire we look for in our players but that IMO was just silly not the kind of fire I want to see

This is a serious thing, it is a thing that needs to be tackled, but it is also a delicate thing.

The club, the police and chelsea reps should investigate this to the best of their ability. If someone did, ban for life. Simple. We don't welcome that.

It is possible that he misheard. The aftv when robbie says he got racial abuse, i heard fat c, not black.

I might be hearing what i want to hear. I dunno. Was robbie hearing what he's heard before?

Have no idea about the game though.

I think that if he is found to be faking it to create discomfort in the opposition then he should get a 6 match ban. The PL are doing so much to get that shit out of our game and then for the same person they’re trying to protect does that!

like I said this is if proven he was faking it

(If he was wrong). You can't. He may have been mistaken, fair enough move on. But you can't create an atmosphere where players are discouraged from reporting racist behaviour.

Until the investigation is complete don't entertain the idea he was lying.

You’re absolutely right, I didn’t actually think about that ?

Just read it. They’ve also said what I’ve said. Investigation ongoing and let’s properly investigate before prejudging.

You and others are unnecessarily defensive about this.
I was there right in that section. He got called a c quite a lot but no racist remarks. Strange how everyone there called it at the same time saying he pulled the race card as soon as he made the allegation. You are quite quickly jumping on us but can’t accept he may well be a spoilt shit with form. The shouts of cheat were pretty deafening it would be pretty miraculous if he could have heard anything else. At the time we all called bulls hit and I still think it’s true. I cannot stand racism and I think what he did is disgusting.

At least one of our fans has said they heard the abuse and reported it to the club. They’ve even posted proof of this too, with the response received from the club.

With that said, I’m fucking disgusted to be in any way associated with some of you in this thread. As a black man, I encounter racism almost on a daily basis, and it’s the responses similar to those I’ve read in here that ensure that nothing will ever change. I’m talking about the insinuations (and at least one accusation of a race card) that Rudiger has made this up or been mistaken, and opinions on what should happen to him if this is unproven, JUST because you don’t like that the allegation (in your view) paints the club in a bad light. Are you really THAT tribal that your “loyalty” to your club trumps basic decency? Either that or you’re racists yourself.

I have no problem whatsoever with anyone wanting to wait until there’s proof before making a judgement - but (for the most part) that’s not what’s going on here. By attempting to discredit Rudiger, you are 100% part of the problem. For the avoidance of doubt, if you’ve made or condoned any comments along the lines of the following, then it’s you I’m referring to:

- I don’t believe him
- this didn’t happen
- funny how he’s the only one to have heard this alleged abuse. he must have amazing hearing
- he’s playing the race card
- maybe he was mistaken
- for his sake I hope he’s not mistaken, because if he is then he should apologise and/or be punished
- etc etc

If the mods feel I’ve gone too far and decide to ban me, then so be it. But I’m not going to sit here and read this shit without calling it out for what it is.

I have heard about 50 similar accounts of your explanation from SC members like yourself on here and from lifelong friends who were at the match yesterday in the area of the alleged incident.

My pals ain't having it. They are shocked.

Everyone here agrees that those responsible should have life bans. Nobody is condoning racism.

don't worry mate if the racist chanting was 'as clear as day' then it'll be a walk in the park for the CCTV and lip readers to find it.

You make it sound like you’re the only black man on the forum!
My dad was Caucasian and my mum black.... what am I?...... colour blind, that’s what I am. I don’t care what colour you are, you’re a human being and should behave like one.
I grew up in the West Indies and they called me “white boy” I spent 27 years in the UK and the last year in Florida the call me black.

My point is, I strongly believe that if someone is proven to be playing the race card (in any circumstance) they should be punished, regardless of their colour.
Having said that I agree with another poster. It’s dangerous ground as this may prevent a genuine people from making a complaint as they might fear that they are not believed and punished on top.

Fair play to you mate, I respect your opinion but in this case I feel you’re far off the mark.
I’m sorry that you suffer abuse on a daily basis and probably that has something to do with your post.

By the way this was my post straight after the game
I’m more embarrassed about the racist chanting than the game itself. I’ve also been proud to be a spurs supporter as (in my time as a supporter) we’ve never been accused of being a racist club. We all know that it’s more than likely a small group but that’s not how the press will portray it or how we will no be viewed but the footballing community.

I am genuinely ashamed
