I thought we deserved it. Sure they huffed and puffed but it was an even game on clear cut chances.

Traore has scored a worldie there after we've switched off for one second and that was it really. Rest of the time our defending was excellent and if you stay in the fucking game and don't give easy goals away then you get the rewards.
That's true. I think most of it was down to their wastefulness, but we had some good bits of defensive play too. There was some awful defending for us as well. The amount of times Aurier and SAnchez got done on basic one-twos was way too high I would have been very disappointed if we got into as many good positions as them and didn't score more.

Our two goals were great individual goals too.

Are you the Bloodzeed of streaming fame? If so those streams were my life on Sopcast back in the day.
I have vague memories that the streaming bloodzeed popped up in /r/coys on reddit once or twice and is a Tottenham fan.

I dont care if i will

If you think we were not lucky and 2nd best, then you really need to take off your spurs-tinted glasses, you sad little marshmallow.

Im ecstatic about our victory, as much as you or any other spurs fan, but lets be man enough to admit we were bloody lucky, will you?

Sheeeshhhh!
No more lucky than they were - Dier hit the post, we had two decent shouts for pens waved away, and they got away with what to most people would be a red card. I'm pretty sure there was some other stuff aswell. Shocking VAR and reffing.

However, Wolves were good at pressing, recovery and transition. They were shite at finishing chances, and maybe tht's why they've drawn some of their last 6 games, and NOW, lost one of them.

Spurs were good today, with some poor performances from Aurier and Sissoko. I liked what Dier produced.

Possession and territory are overrated. Defending well and creating goalscoring chances are where the real 'money' is, and luckily we now have a manager who understands that and is an expert at both.

"Revenue is vanity, profit is sanity", so says the old financial adage. Well in that case, possession and territory are revenue, and good defending/creating goalscoring chances are profit.

Some of our more entitled fans aren't happy unless they get results and beautiful football.

Some of our fans are knobs.

In Jose’s extended interview with Andy Gray and Richard Keys over the summer, they asked him about whether he prefers winning with a lot of possession, or grinding out a win, and he said his preference is to win.

Sir Alex famously said he’s never played for a draw in his life.

It’s this kind of mentality we’ve lacked somewhat for many, many years, and may take the players and indeed some fans a while to adjust to. But, it’s the shift in mentality which we need, and IMO is a crucial part of taking us to the next level.

Today’s result was far more impressive than last week’s 5-0 over Burnley, in many ways.

They didnt create much agreed but against better teams they will if we give the ball away... anyways onwards and certainly upwards

I didn’t see the game but judging from a combination of this thread, the match reports and from what I’ve seen against the other two quality sides recently the biggest issue as we all know is CM.

We don’t have the ability to control the game and I don’t believe that is something Jose desires. He may well be happy playing on the counter, but he will also want to control the game at the right times.

Early days though and N’bombele can’t get fit quick enough and I expect a move in the transfer market for a midfielder.

What manager would prefer to play pretty football and lose?

whats with the wtf ratings i said what a performance which it was we dug in defended really well
Fat thumbs i imagine. They either 'disagreed', or 'doh!' you. Either way, your point still stands. Unless they have REALLY big thumbs and 'agreed' :playful:

I think we gave up the midfield and went strictly for the counter. They had much more control but didn't do enough with it.
Mourinhos plan worked even if the mechanics were a bit iffy

That maybe, but the goals were not because if counter attacking football and the times we were about to counter we didn't make the most of it. Jose got lucky today, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good and I've lost count of the times we've been on the receiving end of these results.

Agree with the sentiment as they showed more resiliency and organization than in games past, but i'd struggle to call it brilliant. Brilliant would be eliminating the ability to shoot further up the pitch rather than blocking shots, clogging up the middle. But it certainly was a much improved performance, but i wish they would do a better job of sorting out who is first and second defender and then putting pressure on quicker and further away from goal
Tell that to atletico from the mid 10s. Nothing wrong with last minute defending. Pressing up further the pitch is better at preventing chances but also frees up space further up the pitch allowing the possibility of conceding pretty dangerous chances.

Ultimately, good defending is when you limit the amount of good chances the opposition had. Wolves ended the game with an 0.72 exG compared to our 0.99 exG. We did this in spite of Wolves having most of the ball. We both had 5 shots on target and while they had more attacks they rarely threatened us. We weren't under intense pressure. We were in control, just in a way we are not used to. This was a typical Jose performance, and we will have to get used to it. The first one.
