Wish we could. I expect Eriksen to sit tight til the summer which is why I think he should be sidelined and somebody else given their chance.

If I was Eriksen I'd be eager to get in there now with Odegaard coming back next summer.

I don't think he'll give up the leverage he has when he's out of contract. I do however think he'll be disappointed if he's using Aaron Ramsey as a benchmark.

Should mean he is only used when absolutely necessary which hopefully means we will see more of lo celso. Don't see the point in playing him, give time to lo celso and others who are going to be staying with us.
Least it's cleared up now. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up but would prefer to send him to train with the kids and not see him again.

The vindictive bastard in me says we should put the fucker on gardening leave, don’t even let him train.

The sensible boring person in me says that we should use him where necessary as he’s an asset and clearly has a set of skills that will be handy to us if he puts the effort in.

For what? Honouring his contract? You can't just treat employees like shit for no reason.

As per the copious amounts of ITK we’ve had Eriksen has pissed about re his contract. In addition to that barring the 2nd half against Olympiacos he’s been diabolical for over a year. If a company had an employee whom consistently underperformed then they would have disciplined them and eventually dismissed them on grounds of capability.

Good luck with that in court.

Dismissing employees for poor performance is a common occurrence.

i believe that If they dismissed him for performance, they would still be liable for the balance of the contract. The only way they could dismiss him without pay would be if there was some type of clause (usually an ethics or morals one) as no player in their right mind would sign a contract that says they would be responsible for so many assists or goals.

Sitting on the bench or sending him to train with the youth is probably not "treating like shit" from a legal perspective. The leverage Christian has with the club is the sentiment of the other players. If they banish him while he has been playing hard and has been a good teammate, then players entering into the end of their contract may not be as eager to sign up. Sitting him on the bench and playing him as needed is probably the best solution from the club's perspective especially since the Euro's are coming up. seeing how important he is to the Danes and the group they are in gives him incentive to do something positive for the club but it is doubtful that it would be enough to make him re-sign as he would be leaving quite a few Euros on the table.

Let him train with the first team, but I wouldn't have him on the bench or starting 11 unless it was absolutely necessary. His lack of commitment is a problem.

If this article is true, which i feel must be now. He should not be played again and be dropped from the first team, make him train with the Under 19s or something similar. We're not able to make any money from one of our top assets, as much as I loved what he has done in the past, he handled himself disgracefully letting his contract run down and letting this whole situation affect his game to the level of sunday league player.

Was watching the video of Dele’s first 50 goals and reminded me what an incredible partnership these two had and how amazing Eriksen has been for us. It’s disappointing how it’s going to end for him as he’s been my all time favorite Spurs player. Especially with Dele firing on all cylinders again it makes you wonder what could have been!

His pass against Chelsea in the FA cup semi is probably the best pass I’ve ever seen from a Spurs player.

IMHO it's hard dropping a player of Eriksens's caliber when he's performing good. We finally saw glimpses of that when he came on for Dier. We must remember that it's the media that's telling the story and not him.

Really? Kane and THudd might have something to say about that, even if you don't go back as far as Hoddle.

This one? Good god they look like a bunch of kids back then, and it's only been 2 years old

Edit: Wonder what it could have been if our attackers could finish the damn thing :)

Wouldn’t have an issue with him running his contract down if he had performed consistently throughout but he hasn’t. That’s what makes the situation sour.
