Very nice seeing the early tactical change and the presser after... If Dier + Winks start against Bournemouth though it's all moot

When Eriksen came on tonight my heart sank and I expected us to become even more porous at the back. But Jose must have fired Eriksen up because he was a completely different player. I thought Moura was doing well when Jose hooked him off for Sissoko. I expected that to cut down our attacking options but instead we pushed on. The only conclusion I can reluctantly reach is that Jose Mourinho knows more about football tactics than I do. Who'd have thought?

Loved him congratulating the ball boy, it only helps endear him to the fans more.
That lad will absolutely love walking into school tomorrow.

Not necessarily.
It took me a long time with Poch to get into the habit of not second guessing him and I think JM is the best person to make the call on who is best to play.
At least we know he will swallow his pride early doors if he gets it wrong and not stick with something that early isnt working.

Guy hasn't put a foot wrong so far and if this is his tactical baseline then next time things get stale etc, which they will, the players might want to think twice about putting the club in a position where it has to back them or the head coach.

Sissoko was a clever change to make as well, they'd got in a few times down our right after it got to 2-2 and they did virtually nothing after that.

I don’t know how that change worked exactly but It did. First time I’ve thought that the manager has outsmarted next for ages haha Jose clearly world class coach.

Thought he was very classy to apologise to Eric Dier for subbing him off as his first post match comment. Nice stuff.

Hadn't thought about it that way but good point and hopefully it will give them something to think about!

Jose is a class above Poch in terms of ability from what I’ve seen so far. Yes I know it’s early days.

Looking forward to the next game which is more than I’ve been able to say for the best part of a year.

Jose post match apologizing to Dier and admitting that he maybe he should've made some changes going into the game.

Anyone else see Gary Nevilles comments about Jose and levy being a relationship of convenience.

www.skysports.com

Jose Mourinho and Tottenham a 'marriage of convenience', says Gary Neville
Neville: "Mourinho needed to get back into the Premier League to re-establish himself. Levy needed someone who could get the football club quickly back up to a level that is acceptable and into the Champions League. This is a marriage of convenience."
www.skysports.com

It was really disappointing to read as until then I’d liked Neville as a pundit but it kind of belittled is really almost saying Jose is using us as a stepping stone back to top management but I think thsts just suck bollocks and really not sure why he’s said this especially as he worked with Jose at sky.

jose is 55, he probably thinks he’s realistically got 10-15 years left in management, mabye 10 at the top. He lives in London and ideally wanted a London job, he’s at a club which has a good squad, an amazing infrastructure, is only going in one direction and is a nice challenge and he loves an underdog challenge that’s what motivates him so spurs really is the ideal fit. Hopefully he does well and stays for 3-4 years then he’s nearly 60 and as he said could go back to Portugal to manage the national team or his old local team etc. He’s managed top clubs in every league and won trophies everywhere, why would he go anywhere else after Spurs? If he’s successful with us it’ll be one of his biggest achievements, he’ll have proved to everyone once and for all what a simply incredible football coach he is and has been and he can then wind down his career ideally in Portugal.

g.nev is a twat is basically what I’m saying.

Great job today, he managed to up the pace in the 2nd half but again I feel like what happened is great news because he learnt a bit more about the team. I reckon Rose is on his last legs as a starter now and Winks/Dier should fear the chopping block as once Ndombele gets that opportunity there will be no turning back.

Still feel a lot of the defensive issues in the back 5 won't be sorted until a transfer window, I know Jose is a good manager but I think getting a tune out of this defence without some upgrades might be a step too far.

Yeah. As the change after 27mind confirms he doesn’t mess about when he sees something wrong ( which is great), but let’s not forget that we were all over the fucking place defensively for a lot of that match. Even in the 2nd half I was never confident we wouldn’t concede more.
