I’ve just watched the whole press conference.

He said everything I think we could have wanted him to say. Word for word the perfect press conference. Let’s see how it all materialises.
His opening comments about Poch were just amazing. Said this would always be Poch's home and he'd always be welcome to come back and visit.

Also when he talked about any achievement would be as a result of the whole effort up until now.

Genuinely, I've always really liked him - even during his spells with Chelsea - and I've been jealous of the clubs who've employed him in the past. So happy he's finally come to us.

I can’t remember what I thought of him. My brain is still in the process of reorganising all my Mourinho related memories and deleting where appropriate. One more sleep and I should be completely reprogrammed.

Just been listening to football weekly and quite frankly the anti Mourinho and pro Poch bias was huge.

I am one who was disappointed by Poch leaving but I understand the change that needed to be made. I understand that Jose is controversial, what I don't understand is all the 'past it' notions. That United squad was horrendous when he took over, and all the flack he got when he suggested Shaw was lazy or Martial wasn't as good as people thought, or Pogba was inconsistent. Turned out he wasn't being a twat, he was spot on.

Under OGS United are failing, I think Jose did a good job there under incredibly difficult circumstances and the players at Chelsea stuck the knife in. Still past it? What was it a legue title a league cup or two, the uefa cup and a charity shield? Past it? Bonkers!

Now Poch has worked wonders with the club and I will not criticise him but Jose is not a step down in any sense of the word. I seriously believe Spurs could challenge for league success next season.

Infact after hearing the negative response and what can only be described as bullying towards Jose, I would Kevin Keegan love it if he destroyed Klopp and Guardiola next season, as an added bonus it will be with Spurs.

He said in the presser that the style will not change too much from before which is interesting so mabye fairly high press like early days poch but hopefully he does change it a bit because we need a better balance to be able to get over the line and win things.

Its funny most people saying they don’t want boring Jose football but aside from a few defensive ‘park the bus’ performances Jose’s football is fine, his Real Madrid team were electric on the counter attack and scored record amount of goals in la liga season.
I don’t care how he plays as long as it’s how he thinks it’s the best way to be successful so I fully trust him as to how he thinks we should play but I’d be a bit surprised if he tried to play exactly like poch set us up because that’s not Jose and it also probably doesn’t quite suit the squad we have but if he tweaks it slightly and try’s to dominate games against smaller teams but setup cleverly against harder opponents and away from home then I think that’s the way to go.

People also forget his Porto and first Chelse team were exactly the same. Organised defensively in a medium block and funnelling the opposition into central traps where Makalele/ Costinha would pounce and start a counter.

His press conference saw 94 journalists from 61 different organisations squeezed into the press conference room at Hotspur Way and it would have been far, far more had Tottenham not restricted each media outlet to sending only one journalist, with a cameraman in tow for broadcasters

What comes out of this press conference is what he’s always exuded. He’s smart and has a wit that’s way beyond these dumb journos. He plays the media. I’ll choose to ignore his Man U experience only because he had a shit squad at his disposal, a huge legacy which others are similarly failing to live with and a phenomenal track record before that. That includes some of his teams that played great football.

His press conference was sincere. I also genuinely believe he’s always had a soft spot for Spurs. He rightly pointed out in his intro Spurs vid that very point. Often complementary towards Spurs and certainly not derogatory. Think he’s been planning and hoping for this for months, and no doubt shared this with Levy.

It will invariably not be a long stay with us, but just have a feeling he’ll have every reason to look back at his time with us as one of his career favourites.

This feels like early 70s Vegas Elvis. Different from the entities of the 50s and late 60s. Perhaps not as gorgeous, visually at least, but richer, deeper and happier in his own skin

I honestly believe he has had us on his radar for the past year. He has always been complimentary of the club and previous links to wanting several of our squad. Plus here there is no history or pressure to live to ala United following Fergie. Here, like Chelsea, he can be the one to set the tone and put us on the elite level.

Agree about the Football Weekly - I think it was Auclair who said Spurs are the first club he's been at that can't win the league. I bet he would have said a year ago that we weren't the type of team who could get to a Champions League final!

Quite a dismissive attitude towards us in general - almost as if they're incredulous that little old Spurs had the temerity to try and reach the next level.
