What trophy will he win? Klopp and Pep have 90+ point winning machines for at least the next few years. The same shelf life as Mourinho. Can he make up the 20 point difference next year or is an FA or league cup enough to satisfy the palette?

I don’t know the answer and I’ll support spurs regardless but just pushing the question for those that are adamant that he will turn us into a winning side.
Even if we never won either of the big two (PL/CL) that so many consider the only 'worthy' trophies for us [scat editorial note: ha!], a League Cup, or (dare to dream) an FA Cup or a Europa League title would be like an oasis in the desert for me. I would be so happy just to win a single one of those.

I love Poch with all my heart but I feel a manager like Mourinho could be precisely what we need. An arrogant, cut throat, smug bastard who is win at all costs. Everyone hates us anyway. Why not go all in on it and thrive on the hate? Bring it on.

Pros:
  • Knows this league (and how to win it/ in it).
  • Has never failed to achieve silverware with a club.
  • Huge name = attractive to current and future top players.
  • Ruthless decision maker with decisive in game tactics.
  • Instils winning mentality in his players.
Cons:
  • Runs his mouth constantly.
  • Believes his own hype.
  • Divisive.
  • Teams tend to be dull viewing.
  • Pisses off boards, fans and players alike.
  • Stubborn.
  • Stifles youth development
None of Mourinho’s pros are common to the version of Pochettino who left us. All of the cons are.

I don’t like Mourinho, but I’d understand his appointment, I’ll support him, and should he deliver trophies I’ll celebrate him, particularly if the brand of football is at all attractive.
Pissing off the board is a pro. They’ve gotten away with their bullshit for far too long. Now Mourinho will call them out on it. I say good.

You'll see a lot of our players turn back to normal levels and some play above themselves.
I agree, so this whole need to spend 150m to rebuild could, I said could be soon be “Eriksen signs a new contract” “Toby signs a new contract” “jan signs” suddenly we have our old Tottenham back with the new boys? Who knows. Let’s just hope we beat West Ham.

i havent missed a game cos its been so exciting this season getting beat by Newcastle, drawing with title contenders watford and sheff utd

Sad to see poch go but the results were terrible, not happy with Jose but thats cos of chavs. But will be behind him all the way, it can be as dull as dishwater but if we win every game 1-0 i am sure i will get over it

what makes you think that if we go 1-0 down to a team, and they put 11 men behind the ball that he can make this unsettled team be able to cross the ball better, or shoot better.

shit happens, and on the day Newcastle managed to block every cross bar a few and Kane and Moura missed the chances, on another day they don't and we go onto win the games

Poch ran out of ideas and was a tormented and tormenting figure on the sidelines. He isnt that brilliant. He had an idea and created a strong team but couldnt get to the next level

Mourinho is a huge gamble.I hope we sign him as a caretaker with an option for us

We have to look at the others.

We need a RB in Jan and we're good to go.

Really not sure how I feel about Jose.

He’s lost a lot of stock over the years but he still wins trophies. I don’t think the massive players would want to play for him nowadays as much as they would’ve a few years ago. His time at Utd was deemed a failure even though he won 2 trophies. He was constantly negative and moaning in interviews (much like Poch this year) and that was with unlimited millions at Utd, he won’t get anywhere near that here, so I can’t really see how that will change. The only thing in our favour is expectations would be much lower at us than at Utd so he might thrive like he did at Porto.

He does win stuff though. I can’t say I’m looking forward to his style of play but then again we’ve been pretty shit to watch in the PL for a while now. Part of me thinks it could be another AVB (sacked from a bigger club then coming to us and failing miserably because of lack of money and personality) but part of me thinks he would love to prove people wrong.... and rub it in Chelsea and Utd’s noses. And end up being a short term success at least.

I hated his press conferences, he was always amusing and arrogant when he came to England, now he’s angry, depressed and still arrogant. If he can find the spark he used to have then I’ll welcome him with open arms. If not, I’ll support him as I would anyone, but I’ll have my doubts.

My first choice would’ve been Allegri but Jose, you just never know, he’s had a break and might just be well up for it. Will he get the support from Levy though? I imagine this is what they’ll mainly be discussing now.....

I miss Poch already.

Well you'll be happy that in Lighty-world Mourinho always puts 11 men behind the ball then, won't you chap? We'll surely go great guns, because it's a well-known Lighty-fact that the very-very-recent trend [snigger] of teams parking the bus caused Pochettino's side to drop points left, right and centre, so now the shoe will be on the other foot and we'll be doing the same to our opponents! Wahoo! o_O
