Seems over the top to drop him tbh.

Just let him and Gomez sort it out between themselves, everything has to be a drama nowadays lol.

Bet in previous years England players must have had beef and just slapped each other and that was the end of it.
Totally agree, stuff like this wouldn’t have made the press years ago.
Non event and if they want to start shooting themselves in the foot by dropping arguably their best player over the last year then more the fool them.
Southgate just needed to pull them to one side, tell them to grow up and suck it up.

Would Gareth show leadership if the next game was a must win rather then a team that hasnt won a game?

Possibly not, but that's irrelevant. He's got an opportunity now to make a point and has taken it. Whether or not he would've done in a completely fictional situation is neither here nor there.

So do you think that if the whole team has a punch-up, they'd all get sent home and we'd have to cancel the match?

*fingers crossed*

Southgate has done the right thing, Sterling has brought the club animosity with him which caused us to win fuck all with a golden generation. Go in zero tolerance now and stop it before it comes up at a crucial moment. Dont know why people are siding with sterling because hes a better player, its irrelevant.

Yep. If he lets this go it's going to fester and undo the good work that he's done in building a harmonious squad.

Watching the press conferences today and the press really are trying to make the most of this. Southgate and the players want to put it behind them but woe betide the journalists will allow them.

This shit has happened before but it wasn't leaked to press, frankly I think its been handled terribly and left Sterling out to dry

This is after terrible attacks on his character from the media and then after a weekend of abuse from scousers who were giddy from the fact they think they won the league

After such an intense game it might have been better for England to give the players in that match the next day off before joining the squad. Seems commonsense to let players recover from the physical and emotional strain after a big game.

Mind you Sterling is a bit of a prat putting hands round Gomez neck.

He could have at least sparked him one rather than all this namby pamby throat grabbing malarkey.

It was a bit unnecessary to drop him but my goodness, the media have milked it today. Totally bored by it now.

What makes me laugh about it all is how Henderson is the mediator over a conference call to the pair of them. Why hasn’t he rung the captain and told him that Sterling is still in the hotel and get him to sort it. Typical rat move and undermines Kane’s role as captain.

I may be a little bias here as I can’t stand that smarmy prat.

All throughout the World Cup, Henderson was strolling around and acting like he was captain. There is potential spark to create a divide between the Liverpool players and the rest; this is in part because of the tif between us and them in that game at Anfield a few seasons ago; their players reaction to Kane claiming the goal. Kane tried to heal the divide by wishing them luck in an interview before the CL final v Madrid.
In fact Kane and Sterling are on very good terms; lots of mutual respect and admiration between both of them due to the work ethic they put on the training ground. I can honestly see a divide coming up because of this as Kane and the spurs lot will side with Sterling.

People saying it should have been kept in camp are forgetting the fact that the rumours were flying before the statements came out. They had to make a stance and as it happens I think Southgate has done the right thing.
