We were desperately poor today, my first game in the new stadium and Sheff Utd played the better football.

We’re way to passive out of possession and too ponderous in it. Difficult to give ratings as if probably be too harsh. Son had some bright moments but they were few and far between. I really didn’t want the Tottenham from the mid 90’s back but it feels like that at the moment.

We play out from the back, yet our midfield/forwards run away from our defenders when they have the ball. It kills our ability to progress anything.

Our current system is always going to make our defence look shit. Doesn’t matter who the individuals are.

numerous crap performances today. Chief was Sissoko, closely followed by Kane and Alli. Whether they were tired or not, who knows.

Another game ticks by with nothing from our full backs. We’re so hamstrung in this area.

Any decent ball playing holding midfielders available in January

I was actually quite impressed with GLC, especially when Winks came on. We were much more dynamic.

I think we have to get GLC, Lucas, Son and Kane playing together for a more substantial period of time.

Just back from the game.

Lo Celso was tidy but didn't offer any form of penetration. Dele was his usual shite. Kane looks tired and leggy, has lost that burst of speed which made him dangerous. Son was ok.

No creativity in the side, N'Dombele looks our best player. He's the only one who looks to play the ball forward.

Moura looked lively when he came on. Foyth was also pretty assured. Dier gave the ball away a million times, Sanchez was also pretty shaky.

SU pressed brilliantly and deserved all the points - they wanted it more.
Maybe they'll tire towards the end of the season, though.

I thought Son might score one from range, he kept getting half sights of goal - but instead it was an untidy goal, but they all count (var permitting) and he was the only one likely to score. Motm.

Must admit somewhat bemused by some of the reactions/comments after today’s game. Sheffield United are a really, really well coached team who deserve to be where they are at the moment. They have the best defense in the PL and are unbeaten away from home.So given our (not so) recent form, basically a new team and having played away in the CL midweek why is it such a surprise they did so well against us.
Having said that I’m disappointed in the lack of flexibility on the part of both Poch and the players. If due to a 2 forwards high press and piss poor passing out of defense we are continually hemmed into our final third then change what you’re doing. Play balls over the top in behind their high line. Turn them around and push them back to give yourselves more room to play. We continually make unnecessary problems for ourselves at the back.
Dier played really well midweek but was terrible today. He got a yellow after 75 seconds, could easily have got a second and continually gave the ball away. He should have been replaced by Toby which might have seen us hold out for a win. Both “goals” were Dier’s fault as he was hopelessly out of position.I know hindsight is a wonderful gift?.
Kane should have been substituted for the last 20 minutes or so as he was out on his feet(Sess would have been my choice) but just as in the Dier case this just something Poch rarely does - substitute a dangerously performing player or take Kane off when he’s underperforming.
All in all it wasn’t as bad as some say. Poch played the team from midweek(apart fromthe FBs - who were especially poor today) which is what everyone wanted. So basically we have a new team which is going to take time to gell and today against a very good team fatigue and unfamiliarity made life difficult.
I don’t believe Poch is going anywhere soon so we need to be patient and get behind the team. That’s what supporters do. I couldn’t believe people on here calling for people to stop going to games. When we were crap during the 90’s I, and many others, had home AND away season tickets and along with guys like the British Queen boys(big shout for the Ross brothers for organizing coach to nearly every away game) we turned up and supported the team through thick and thin.I understand the frustration but if you are TTID it’s what you do.

I think a lot of the frustration is about the very point you make, Sheffield looked like a very well coached unit. Sadly we currently look like a collection of players who aren’t well coached, dont have a well drilled game plan and look tactically out matched and frankly a bit shambolic.

Positives Le Celso looks like a quality footballer and could do really well more centrally, Foyth at least looked comfortable on the ball while he was on and Son ran his socks off.

Needed not to lose. A draw as good as a win and every point will count with gravity pulling us closer to the bottom. The team is shot of confidence. It’s going to be painful. Hopefully games like these help with the reset.

United were by far the better team. We lack pace, width, organisation, desire, spirit, leadership on and off the pitch, the list could go on and on. Terrible first involvement by Dier set the tone. Misjudged horribly then spent most of the first half arguing with Sanchez with Gazza playing peacemaker... something clearly not right. Our fullbacks were dreadful all game, Sissoko’s lack of ability on the ball was laid bare, Ndombele went wandering here, there and everywhere. Son was busy and worked hard, while Dele frustrated and seemed determined to give the ball away with flicks and tricks that only work against less committed opponents.Kane looks on and wonders when the ball will come his way. Lo Celso was the only bright spark and showed a quality of touch and control that many of his teammates couldn’t match. He’ll be off at the end of the season playing for a much better team than Spurs. I didn’t realise just have far we’ve regressed until today. So much for home being any kind of a fortress; this team selection, tactics and execution by the players was not one designed to win.

sanchez showed what we hoped he'd be. everyone else was crap. and i mean crap.
You mean clumsily giving away a corner needlessly and passing it straight to the opposition dangerously when playing out from the back? Both incidents in the first half.

He has been worse, for sure, and Dier was... well... but far far away from what we hoped he would be.

We lack a serious CM someone who protects the defence, that could have Dier today with Toby back in as CB. Dier is not a left sided centre back. It’s a worry that we have 4 right-sided CB’s and only one left sided.

Anyway

Gazza, Sanchez, LeCelso, Alli, Son, winks were all Par

Kane, Ndombele, Aurier, Foyth were below par

Dier (played in wrong position), Davies and Moura (net) were poor

Moura poor? He wasn’t on very long and had our only meaningful attempt post Son’s goal... he did more in his cameo than Kane all game, he was far from poor.

We tied Sheffield United at home and drew 1-1 and honestly, we should have lost.

Ratings for the whole team = 0

Sanchez plays like Bambi on ice. Always looks like he’ll fall over and seems to take an absolute age to bring the ball under control. Doesn’t read the game very well, or the flight of the ball. We are really going to miss Toby and Jan and will have to spend big to replace them.

Couldn't have said it better myself mate. With both of them now effectively gone a new proven quality CB is our top priority.

I hence therefore patently await the purchase by our ambitious board of either Varane, Koulibaly, Marquinhos, Umtiti or at least a stop gap Ramos :D

Sheffield United are a really, really well coached team who deserve to be where they are at the moment.

The most depressing part for me was that Poch had no clue on how to combat Wilder's tactics. Everyone knows how Sheffield want to play, yet we let them dictate what happened in the game.

Gazza - 7
Aurier - 5
Davinson - 5 - too easy to turn and knock off the ball, almost cost us twice. He just lacks composure and technique
Dier - 5 - cannot pass to save his life - so he should stop thinking he is Toby, the sooner the better.
Davies - 5 - so average it hurts.
Sissoko - 5 - hopeless today
Ndombele - 5 - poor today but think that was down to feeling a strain early on.
Dele - 3 - another nothing game with shit 'clever' touches that just loses us possesion and just so slow in everything he tries to do.
Son - 6 - shooting shit today, lucky goal aside.
Lo Celso - 6 - was great against Red Star, pretty average today.
Kane - 4 - looks uninterested really

Foyth - 6 - ok i guess
Winks - 6.5 - at least he always tried to make himself available to team mates and get the ball going. Same cannot be said about anyone else in midfield.
Lucas - 6 - tried and almost saved us but got too little time.

Same thing week in, week out. There is no individual press, let alone collective press. There is no plan in attack, no movement, no tempo in the passing for the whole of 2019.

We more or less got the team we wanted but they hardly turned up.
Out-everythinged by Sheffield.
Saved by VAR Gifted a goal.
But we didn't quite lose.
Could be a vital point at the end of the season.

Overall 5.
Winks, Son, Lo Celso, 6 (ish).
Davies, Dele, Dier, Harry, Aurier,,Sanchez not even bang average..
Somethings got to give either Poch or team attitude or both.
Sad times.
If I missed anyone out consider yourself lucky
