Pressure of a world cup final leading to some daft errors and lack of discipline, and South Africa got their preparation and plans right and were the smarter of the two teams in what they looked to do with and without the ball, but they were secondary factors. The main thing was the forward battle, set piece, and the collisions. If you're losing all of them it's virtually impossible to win a game.

No complaints, South Africa were much the better team on the day and the scoreline reflects the dominance.

Yep totally agree.

The worst thing is now I have to come down from my little world cup cloud and start watching spurs again. :X3::hungover::LOL:

Good thing for me I don’t really like Rugby, but congratulations to SA. Your wrestlers were better than our wrestlers :sneaky:;).

Losing Sinkler after 2 minutes was a very big loss. SA imposed their game on us and we couldn't get ours going through continual unforced errors. Garces was pretty poor and very selective on what he would give penalties for. No complaints about the outcome but really not an advert for the game.

Oh shit! Have just realised only Spurs to watch now.

All game Garces couldn't wait to stick his hand up for SA.

England shit the bed. Poor tactically and got outmuscled. Ended up embarrassing at the end.

Said a while back I don’t trust this England team and there’s a few out there today who don’t have any business at that level really. Daly isn’t a full back and Youngs needs to retire, he was diabolical first half. I know it’s difficult when your teams forwards are getting pushed about but even his basic delivery was awful, too high, too low, no zip and a few massively mistimed or overthrown passes. Spencer has been better than him for a good while now and deserves a chance to get some caps.

Remarkable how England won the final against NZ but didn't win the world cup. This must be a first?
England didn’t win, it was a draw and England got to keep the trophy on a stupid count back rule. Also it’s been 4 fucking months now there’s no need to keep rubbing it in.

think overall we were best team in the tournament. However South Africa were the better team in today’s match. England played right in to South Africa’s game plan today.

That’s knockout sport for you. You can play as well as you like week in week out but one bad game means you lose everything. SA did to England what England did to NZ last weekend, just suffocated them under pressure and took their chances. Been a marvellous World Cup tbh regardless of who won it.

Using E17 logic, we beat NZ who beat South Africa.

So we did win it really!

But SA squeezed past Wales and stuffed England, clearly showing that Wales are better than England, and would have won it but for the injuries, England's extra rest and inflexible tall people.

But Joe Schmidt coached Ireland and went to Pahiatua College, my high school football team beat them convincingly when I was 14 which was when Schmidt was coaching at Palmerston North Boys High, which my team also beat in Football.

So really I won the World Cup.

The state of some of you blaming the ref when you were outplayed in every department.

My favourite bit was when Dawson claimed a combined XV would be all England.

Why be so arrogant? You were great to the final. Be more gracious !

Agree. The number of poor refereeing decisions pails in insignificance compared to the number of stupid errors by England. if we'd lost by less than a score and there had been an iffy disallowed try or something then I could understand it but we were outplayed in basically every aspect of the game today and in the end beaten comfortably so the ref was barely even a factor in the result IMO so blaming him is just pathetic.
