Don't forget, by tomorrow evening we'll have already been to:

City away
Arsenal away
Leicester away
Liverpool away

I was thinking this earlier in the season too but we also have to remember we have lost to Newcastle & Brighton & drawn with Watford so it evens itself out

Burnley gifting goals to potential top four rivals won’t help either. How the fuck Chelsea are leading I don’t know.

I’m surprised how many of us think midweek has turned things round for us. Be amazed to get anything tomorrow which will mean huge pressure at Everton. Loser of that could be next manager gone
Agreed. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed a little 5-0 swaggy live-and-let-die footie, but the issues are still the issues.

We’re currently below par, considerably, when fixtures are taken in to account. Our last league performance left me thinking we can’t beat any side in the division right now to be honest! Every bit as bad as the Brighton nonsense given we were at home.

Yep Burnley gifting the game to them, plus they simply don't want to take any the chances they create & how Chelski's 2 CB's don't get pressurised is beyond me.

Yeah but I meant from the point if we've turned a corner now, they're great fixtures to have out of the way and we'll gain points on our direct rivals.

I don't see us in the running this season. The next debate will probably be would we be better off qualifying or not for Europa, although, at present, I will be relieved once we get to 40 points to be honest.

*This is fine fire dog*

Need to have a massive 2nd half of the season if we're gonna be thinking about getting into that top 4, probably won't win tomorrow but need to win at Goodison and go from there. I suppose the one saving grace is that by next week we would have all played away at City, Arsenal, Leicester, Liverpool and Everton.

I hope you're right Pinky.

If we've turned a corner our next 11 games after tomorrow are all games we can take maximum points in, right up to Liverpool at home on the 11th January. Granted we probably won't win every single one, but 26-28 points out of a possible 33 isn't beyond this team, IF we have turned that corner. Here's hoping.

Not writing Leicester off, I mean it would be a bit silly to do so considering what happened a few years ago, but I wouldn't be nailing them onto third place or even the top four just yet. Chelsea also look decent right now, but it is still early. Even if we lose tomorrow we won't be a million miles behind. Anyone throwing the towel in and forgetting about this season I think could well be a bit premature. Not that I'd blame them, after all, things have seemed rather bleak. However, if we just had VAR go our way against Leicester we probably would have won that game, and if we weren't so terrible in the games against Brighton and Newcastle and the like we could be right up there. 'If if if' I know, but there's time to turn it around and realistically two of the top four places are up for grabs, which four or five teams will have a good chance of claiming if they can sustain some form, us included.

8 points would be looking very big to overhaul if it was February.

We're not even out of October yet.

Hopefully we're on the mend and if so we'll be right in the mix come the festive period imo.

Just look at United last season:

It can change very quickly, it would be stupid to assume it is over by 10 games, look at how quickly it can turn around and then even turn around again.

Although there is a bit of a way to go assuming the top two spots have gone so that leaves 3rd and 4th to play for, that for me leaves it wide open as the usual suspects including us are not good enough to make those spots a guarantee so I think Chelsea will sneak it and Leicester will nab the final two spots.

Chelsea and us will get the last two spots but we need results soon. Starting tomorrow.

We’ve played a lot of the good teams away from home already and I’m sure that never normally happens by this point in the season. If we get our shit together then the points are to be had after Christmas.

Leicester will go down soon.

20 goals scored with only 13 XG, it's pure luck. And Rodgers' teams are often inconsistent

Have you totally written off the second quarter of the season as well then?

No what makes you say that?
The fact that you said we "need to have a massive second half of the season" - it sort of implies we're halfway through already. I appreciate it's a big if, but if we "get going" from now (as we often have under Pochettino), then we'll be top 4 (or very close) after the Christmas period.

Yeah it was more that, I've not given up as of now but stating that we need to have a massive 2nd half of the season is stating the obvious.
