No Toby, No Eriksen, No Rose.

That team that played today looked like they wanted it. It might have only been Red Star, but only Colchester beat us. Let the team build up form, let them get some consistency.

Honestly I'd just totally park the bus. Keep Davies and aurier totally flat, and look to hit Robinson and Trent on the counter through NDombeles passing to son and Lucas.

Can return to tonight's team and style at Everton and beyond

If we're going out to defend I'm not sure I'd use Aurier..... ?

He's looked defensively fine to me the last 2 games

Granted he's been better but he makes me so nervous.
I saw him wander out of position twice tonight. And saw some of the same at Watford where he also had some really dangerous poor touches near our area.

Been crying out for attacking football, pressing and fluid attacks for ages and we got that tonight so I say start the same team.
Will we get tonked? yes most likely, but at least the team looked like they care tonight

The same team for the love of God.

And no Dier isn't anywhere near match fit enough, he'd get raped at Anfield.

Same team. I know Red Star at home and Liverpool away are two completely different prospects, but I saw more desire tonight than I've seen in any game since January. They deserve to show us what results a bit of trust can produce.

Maybe these +Sess, Tanganga, kwp and Skipp should be the squad we work with for the moment. add 2 or 3 in winter and get rid of the troubling rest.

Seeing Rashford and James cause them trouble we should have Lucas and son in same positions and have Kane a bit deeper

If not then same team as today

I would like to see the same team as many have also said... however, you are bang on, Man Utd's formation showed it was the way to go vs Liverpool's 433. Good piece on the BBC here: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50119352

That said, the back three need to actually give a fuck. So, perhaps one of Toby or Jan needs to be dropped and bring in Foyth. Tough one, but those have both been so shit recently... or you could even play Ben Davies in the back three.

Then two wing backs, Sissoko, Ndombele, Lamela/Alli, Son, Kane. Tough to drop one of Alli or Lamela, but I think three might have to be the way to go, unfortunately. I would start Lamela, not just as he's been our best this season, but also his energy in closing down.

Possibly Sissoko for Ndombele and possibly Lamela for Foyth. But Dier NEEDS to play nonetheless. We need cover for the defense. So either play 343 or 4231.

I hope we start Kane and Dele together because their partnership can be devastating, Son to trouble Pool with his pace and directness, Lamela for creativity and goals and grit (maybe our best player this season), and Ndombele for his ability to make space and to spot and play a killer pass.

I'd hope to see Dier in front of the defence if he's fit enough. He looked it today, but I'm no expert.

I'd start Jan and Sanchez, with Rose on the left and Aurier on the right. There's a case for Davies and Foyth in there (maybe Toby, too), but at the moment there are no combinations that fill me with confidence. At his best, Dier offers good protection for the defence, Jan has been our best player so often in the past I trust him more than anyone else, and I guess Rose and Aurier will try to get forward more than Dier and Foyth. I think Dier has more positional discipline than Sissoko and might work better with Ndombele. We will need discipline and guile to crack Liverpool. They wont give us time or space; we'll have to make it for ourselves and we'll have to use it productively.

I agree that we need to play pressing, attacking football. We can't 'park the bus' and expect to contain Liverpool, but if we can protect our defence, we can avoid a tonking. Keeping Dele and Kane together and playing clever passes to give Son space to run at will keep us dangerous. Lamela and Ndombele make and score goals. Those are our strengths, and we'd be crazy to not play to our strengths against the best team in the league.
