Just seen him & Foyth have been called up to Argentina's latest squad, strange that theres been no mention of this from Spurs since its a week old

I'm happy for him but, after what happened to Lo Celso, I actually view this as yet more bad news for us.

Anyone see how he did for the cross for Brighton's first? Absolutely pathetic.
Can't believe he did that in the 3rd minute of a game after we have just been hammered 7-2 and for a manager who has stood by him more than anyone else would.
I'm genuinely shocked at how bad it was, I thought he was a player who cared but obviously not. Add his name to the list of players that need to go

I saw all the other minutes where he was fighting for the ball like he always does. What an earth are you on about?

Definitely fighting for the ball but his passing was poor and he is back to his usual style of holding onto the ball too long. He is much more effective when he releases the ball quickly.

That's because our other forwards are refusing to move. There is minus dynamism in our attack at the moment, Son wasn't making runs off the shoulder, Eriksen constantly ran towards the ball, Kane was ambling back and forward near their defenders. What is Lamela supposed to do? He was the only one out of the lot of them that put in any effort.

I think the main problem is we didn't have Sissoko or Winks dragging us forward from midfield.

Did you see the cross for the opening goal? If you haven't then check it out and tell me if that's an acceptable level of effort and commitment. I would put in a twitter clip here but don't think we're allowed to do that in the forum's but a quick search will show it up

That was a shit cross that Lloris should have tipped over the bar or punched clear. Lamela fucked up but Lloris fucked up even more, but no one will acknowledge that because he injured himself in the process.

Forwards stop moving when they know the ball isn't coming. Our midfield was simply terrible in all areas against Brighton; no aggression, no pace, no shape, no movement. Lamela, Eriksen, Ndombele and Dier were all guilty of standing behind an opponent, refusing to make themselves available for a pass.

I don't agree that it is his usual style, that seems like a needless dig, but I agree that it happened in this game. I think the reason is that, as others have said, players are hiding, not wanting the ball. In fact, you could see when Gazza came on that the defence were having to play the ball about trying to spot a midfielder.

That cross should never, ever have come in. Lamela did absolutely nothing to stop it. He just stands there. He seems to be following Eriksen's "defending is beneath me" approach to football. Those not 100% committed need to be out of the team now, not in January or next summer. The lack of desire is infectious.

Agree it was genuinely poor, particularly considering Lamela's main asset is his work rate

Lamela has been probably the most committed player in the team all season (well him and Sissoko) - he had a poor game at the weekend as did everybody else. Let's not re-write history here because of one incident in a horror show of a match. He has been very good this year and if Spurs are to get back on track it will be because of players like Lamela.

One poor moment in a shite match for everybody and he needs to go? That is an interesting view on things. Utterly insane, but interesting.

It's just because the weird little haters haven't had any reason to @ Lamela lately. They've found one incident in a game in which Lamela was the only one who semi showed up.

Sad, predictable and embarrassingly transparent of their agenda.

"He seems to be following Eriksen's "defending is beneath me" approach to football" - if anybody thinks that of Lamela seriously, that's insanity.

I'm going to play devils advocate here for a minute. Just to show that things aren't always black and white.

Now before that cross came in Gross had gone to cross it left footed. Lamela had closed it down making him come back on to his right. How do we know that, in the planning for this game, the players weren't told to force Gross on to his right foot. After all, it turned out to be a crap ball in that only ended with a goal because of the error from Lloris.

I accept I may be giving the coaching staff too much credit but I just wanted to point out that there may be things going on in a game that we're not aware of.

I have no agenda against him and would have included him in the list of players who I wanted to stay in the rebuild but if you watch that clip and take into account everything that has happened i.e. the talks that are meant to have taken place between the players, the supposed desire to put things right etc and then in the 3rd minute of the game that's how you track back and defend?! That was awful. People saying lloris was at fault and of course he was but if lamela had actually tried the cross never would of come in.
If some want to think I'm being hyper critical then fine but in my opinion he showed a complete lack of desire just 3 minutes into a huge game for us which I think is unacceptable.

Still the wrong guy to pick on.
