I think this was probably a direct result of getting so badly burned on Njie, Janssen and GKN. We basically decided we wanted more "proven" players that had experience of higher level football. At that time Aurier had bundles of CL experience, WC experience, etc, whereas Perreira just had a strong season in Ligue 1.

A big mistake, obviously, and an example of how the disastrous scouting of Mitchell probably was so damaging.

Which players did Mitchell oversee us signing? It's true though our recruitment has been pretty poor for a while now. Far more misses than hits. Let's hope that changes soon.

From Football 365s Winners and Losers section (Sissoko as RB is one of the winners). Made me chuckle.

Mauricio Pochettino has been umming and ahhing over his right-backs for a while. Kieran Trippier has been sold, Serge Aurier is as consistent as train WiFi and the Davinson Sanchez experiment was a disaster. Pochettino clearly doesn’t rate Kyle Walker-Peters, or he’d already be first-choice

Highlight of the match was him 40 yards out of position closing down a midfielder. And it wasn't a one off.

Sadly there were a lot just as bad as him.

I think that Aurier is better, the degree to which is obviously debatable (I don't think they're as far off as a lot of people in this thread, fwiw). But even if Aurier is head and shoulders better than KWP, that isn't something that Aurier should say out loud. It's like the Danny Rose "Google" comments: he might be right, but it's disruptive and unnecessary to point out. If I were in KWP's position, I would definitely view it as a slight, intentional or not.

I'd like to amend my earlier assessment. KWP is better.

Dodgy fullback playing in a system that leaves him exposed. Rose equally poor and equally unable to cope. As bad as they both are, much of this is on Poch.

Should have had a good assist if Ndombele has finished. Good outlet going forward first half

He’s not good enough for us but fuck me how can you guys not see that he and rose were left hugely exposed. We played such a high line with fuck all protection in front of them, it’s suicidal against a team with pace and quality of bayern.

He looked the least fit player tonight and he hardly played Saturday. He clearly isn't working hard enough in training.

Sigh....I said a few weeks he was our best option at RB. Truth is him and our other options at RB/LB are garbage (not including Sessegnon if he is pencilled in to play LB). Seriously, only thing I want in January is a new quality RB. Sick of enduring an erratic Aurier and a wimpish KWP compete for the position. Maybe Foyth can play there and do well, just don't know but so disheartening to see the fullback situation majorly cripple us as a team.
