The only thing that annoys me about Eriksen, is that he pulls out of every challenge possible. Too scared about injury.
If he got this sorted, he WOULD be world class.

Id like to see a recent stat on his distance covered. Traditionally it is the highest of the Spurs players. I wonder if it is currently? My guess (without a recent stat) is that he still covers more ground than the rest of the team. I don't get all comments from some of the Spurs community that he has a poor attitude just because he is running down his contract. Thats just a lazy 2+2 =5 way of thinking.

I never see anything but professionalism by the guy. Maybe he has a slight dip in form (from a very high standard) - but so have many of the team that are still on solid contracts.

Our first season we weren't the best. It wasn't until we moved Alli behind Kane that we started to start looking like a top four regular. I think as well as Eriksen not playing in his best position, he's missed Alli's absence the most.
Could say he's missed an out and out ball winner in CM as well.

I’m more interested in what he does with the ball, not that he runs around a lot. Running is pretty meaningless if has no product

Dele has been utter pony for a long time, I don’t think we will see his first 2 seasons he gave us again. Yes he’s had some injuries but if he’s fit enough to play for a premier league team he should be showing something. He slows every attack down, loses possession and simply hasn’t got the first touch of a top 4 player. Over hyped English football player once again. Comparing him to Lampard is so wrong in every way.

Using running stats to say he put a shift in isn’t necessary a good barometer.

He could easily be constantly jogging around nowhere near the ball, moving away from the ball, jogging back. You would need to add sprints and positioning in to make your precious stats more accurate.

He clearly doesn’t want to be involved.

He was better today, but still looked like he had no interest at all, it’s not good enough.

Even his pass to Kane for the goal was close to being absolute shite, it was a perfect ball by any means.

And yes, I want him out. Incase you didn’t know

Not saying I don’t appreciate all he has done, but not caring as much as he does is unnaceptable.

To be fair to him yesterday, I definitely thought he was trying. Wanting the ball, pressing, running without the ball. He just wasn’t very good!

I mean, it’s not that wrong really is it. At 23 Dele has 42 goals and 29 assists in 132 premier league appearances. At 23, Lampard had 24 goals and 11 assists in 148 premier league appearances.

You could make the argument that ‘well Dele’s been at Spurs, Lampard was at Chelsea’... ok, let’s look at Lampards first 4 seasons at Chelsea, taking him to the age of 27: 34 goals and 26 assists in 151 premier league appearances (Chelsea finished 6th, 4th, 2nd and 1st), still not as good as Dele’s first 4 seasons at Spurs despite playing for a top side and going from 23 to 27 years old with 4 years top flight experience already.

So, if we accept that Lampard is the epitome of goalscoring midfielder (and no premier league midfielder has scored more), then one must accept that Dele’s achievements at 23, only now starting his 5th season in this league, as phenomenal... and that’s before we consider that his stats are massively hit by a poor season last season, in his first 3 seasons, by just 22 years old, he achieved 37 goals and 26 assists in only 107 matches. This is nothing short of incredible for a guy of his age, who didn’t have the benefit of premier league academy training, and who has been playing in a side with several other very regular goal-scorers in that timeframe.

For some context, Son, who we can all agree is one of our most important attackers, started for us at the same time as Dele, and is even more of an attacker, has accrued 2 more goals, 8 fewer assists, in 3 more premier league matches. He signed as a top level tested 23 year old attacker for 6x what Dele cost.

Has Dele’s form dropped. Yes. Does he need to work hard to reach previous standards so that he can regain his first team spot and impact our success significantly? Absolutely. Is it very wrong to compare him with Lampard, or any other midfielder of goalscoring repute? Absolutely not!

That is a very well written reply! With some great points. Maybe I’ve just forgotten how the guy plays, as all I remember is him constantly trying pointless flicks and nut megs. Not to mention slowing down every attack by not releasing the ball quick enough. Maybe it’s just confidence?

bit of an understatement there, he’s been poor for over a year and seems to be phoning in his performance.

I didn’t think he was good.

It’s amazing how low some people’s expectations are. His role in the second goal was good but hardly difficult passes. You’d expect him to do what he did.

The rest of his game was his usual rank level imo. He won’t improve. He will always be capable of the odd good pass, he may even create a moment of magic, but it’s not enough.

I think it’s confidence and a lack of continuity due to injuries, as well the overall dip in our firm. Since Pickford tried to murder him, which I believe was just before Christmas, he’s dropped off massively, but he was fine before that. I agree he is frustrating, but because he’s a player who impacts in moments rather than a player who affects the entire flow of the match like Eriksen, his deficiencies will always be accentuated when we underperform as he’ll not be seen as doing enough, and his virtues will always be emphasised when we’re playing well as he will have the platform to provide this glorious moments.

A top side playing expansive football will always need a Dele Alli as a player who can do the unpredictable consistently (oxymoronic I know) will be the difference between good and great. I stuttering side lacking cohesion, and Dele Alli becomes a high risk low output player.

This is rolled out every week. Literally means nothing
Of course it means something

It dispels the myth that he is lazy, it dispels the myth that he hides, it dispels the myth that he doesn’t care.

Yes other things can be layed at his door, such as being shy in a tackle, not always taking the game by the scruff of the neck that we know he is capable of.

But to run like that majority of games, it means a fuck load

Lol, he’s at least still tracking back, just a shame he can’t stick his foot in a bit harder. Thing with Eriksen is he pussies out of challenges which is frustrating but he doesn’t really get injured much. As a team that has relied on him playing almost every game in the last 4 years it’s probably best he’s never got stuck in because we’ve had nobody on the bench if he got a bad injury. Horses for courses.

Lolmao if anybody else had created that second goal people in here would have creamed their pants, but because it’s Eriksen no one even mentions it. Eriksen has reached the point where his bad performances now negates everything good he does.
The assist was sublime, its tough to really gauge anyones performances after the sending off.

Think this is a bit overreaching, he played the ball across the 18 yard box and he also played it behind Kane, who readjusted well and showed the difference being a world class striker makes as he used it to his advantage.

I'm not saying this to criticise Eriksen but just feel that's overstating it a bit and that doesn't take away from the fact he played a big part in both goals. Now Lamela's pass to Son vs Leicester, that was sublime.
