I suspect he just closed his eyes and smashed it. Everyone who has ever kicked a football can do that once. We need him to hit the target every time from closer. It just needs coaching and practise. Amazed he is still so poor in front of goal and it’s one of Poch’s coaching teams major failures.
Wrong thread but relevant.
Winks is just as bad but from further out.

i thought he 'out-passed' Winks on Saturday particularly with forward passes that broke the defensive line.

Don't disagree. He had a couple of passes I never expected to see from Sissoko - well executed passes.

To me Winks had the better game, but good to see Sissoko having the confidence to try some slightly more advanced passing and succeeding with it.

If that game showed anything it's that Sissoko is best served in a 2 man midfield with a lot of movement and creativity in front of him. Let him use his energy to break up play and make quick bursts with the ball. Then make sure he doesn't have to advance any where near the box or do anything too clever in front of goal.

How has he got a 4 year contract? Not dissing him by any means, but isn’t he one of the oldest in the squad? That’s gonna piss Danny Rose off. Yeah yeah, I know, at least he won’t have to google him etc etc ??

If Danny didn't open his mouth he probably would have got one as well.

Well, maybe, eh? To be fair, Sissoko has risen, Rose has declined somewhat. But yeah, I don’t think his media comments have overly done him any good.

Deserved a raise based off last year but don’t think we’ll be happy with that contract by the end of it.

When his physical power starts to wane Moussa will not be getting in our team. Seems strange to give a 4 year contract unless it is just to get a decent fee when we sell him in the summer. I think that’s the more likely reason.

Should be giving him a 100k a goal bonus as an incentive

actually second thoughts, 100k on target bonus

A 4 year deal is excessive for a 30 year old squad player.

Would agree - he's not exactly the player we should be rebuilding around.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if this is equally about sending a message to the squad that players who are committed to Poch will be rewarded (and not just on one year deals).
