It was so strange. All and sundry on tv were coming out saying they had a fantastic window and Luiz was a great signing. We all said the opposite. It was like they completely ignored all that had gone on before with him.
Football weekly were waxing lyrical about what a signing it was too. I was completely baffled listening to it. I was thinking maybe I’m wrong but nope it’s definitely the highly paid pundits who are fucking idiots.

It’s like Arsenal are turning into West Ham in that they only seem motivated when playing us. If Watford could finish the score could have been 10-2.

Anyone could have told them that the Luiz signing was possibly the worst thing they could do. They added a defender and managed to make their defense worse. Luiz is awful.

Said it in the summer and will continue to repeat it.

Arsenal fans are being tricked by the window they had and are too blind to see it. The owners played it brilliantly.

They spent the first half of the summer being linked to any half decent player, who they realistically could not afford to give the impression that they were being ambitious. In reality they were not prepared to go all out, so they had to compromise with loans, buying players cheap or buying young players either within their spending limits or on the selling clubs terms.

When they signed Luiz, it was "We know what he's like but he's a winner and a proven prem defender". When in reality it should have been "Are we really replacing Mustafi with another clown?"

When they signed Pepe it was "Wow, we've signed a player who is going to rip up this league!". Again, reality it should have been "He's exciting but very raw, it could be a gamble.". But Arsenal fans do what Arsenal fans do and go balistic over a yt video.

After one game from Ceballos it was "He's the best thing and we're gonna be unstoppable". A week later and Ceballos was hardly noticeable at Anfield.

I'm not all these players won't work out but I wouldn't have been so cocksure about the summer they had.

Cast your mind back to the Europa Cup final, their fans were demanding they get rid of all of them bar Lacazette and Auba. Two months later everything's rosy cause they brought in potential, a loanee, an injured left back and a 32 year old error probe cb. Yet Xhaka is still their midfield enforcer, Maitland Niles is still expected to play RB, Sokratis is still a lumbering oaf, Leno is still average, Ozil still goes missing and they still have Mustafi (plus Luiz).

They've had the wool pulled over their eyes once again.

I disagreed when it was suggested they had a better window then us. We brought in two massive talents, proven in big competitions and Europe plus a highly talented English player who has a very high ceiling and is prem ready.

To be fair, he is their best central defender. Kos was their only decent CB and he couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

And the 31 shots Watford had today is the highest number of shots Arsenal have faced in one match since Opta started recording.

Watford had 23 shots in just the second half! Granted a lot of them were shit, but it's mental nonetheless.

At least half were Deulofeu cutting in and aiming for the far corner

Weird one is they were delighted to pay £72m for Pepe but only offered £40m for Zaha...

Ceballos isn’t quite the Luka Modric they all believed he was. He actually looks like a Real Madrid reject funnily enough

£80m for the French Theo Walcott.
Mental.
Arse-mania on Pepe 2 weeks ago:

The guy's absolutely dynamite, dangerous throughout.

His assist went under the radar which is baffling because it showed he has top class awareness. Passing the ball with the outside of his foot in a tight area showed his sublime technique and reaction. Top top player.

I thought he was one of our better players and was always a threat on the ball. When it all clicks I think he will world class for us.

Arse-mania on Pepe today:

We didn't pay 70 million for Gervinho..... at the price we are paying for Pepe it's not enough for him to "get a ****load of assists and create a ton of goals". He needs to be the ace of the team, the guy who can become a Sanchez level player. If he can't then we need to consider cutting our losses and sell him while we can.

Starting to worry about this signing - my first impressions of a player are generally pretty accurate.

His first touch is clumsy and his technical ability looks alright in the French league but at a faster pace, I'm not sure he's got it.

He looks like he needs some serious coaching to become a top player, which is worrying considering what we have to offer in that area and his price tag.

lol.
