on Palace:

Benteke is utterly useless. 3rd season in a row now, looks completely broken.
Zaha frustrating. Goes over easily, partly due to his running style and being the most frequent outlet for them and tactical fouls, but when that happens they haven't got anyone else to take over.
Their defence is crap.

Can't underestimate the importance of a good win after all the seemingly negative flak associated with Spurs of late.

Hopefully there'll be a bit of a positive buzz around the place and the media can find their next plaything to write nonsense stories from anonymous sources about.

Sounds like we were almost back to our best. To think we have 3 top signings still to introduce. Promising future including few youngsters including Parrott hopefully be intergrated.

As I wrote at half time, it was all about the pressing and movement. Palace weren’t good today, but after they conceded the early goal, that was largely because we harried them to death and moved well off the ball. Their errors were due to Spurs pressure.

If I had time, I’d go through the thread and make a compilation of the 20+ pre-match posts announcing with great certainty that we would be turgid and slow with Winks and Sissoko as the double pivot. We weren’t.

It’s not about what the players “are”. It’s about what they “do”. There was nothing sluggish or predictable about our midfield today.

The logic of some on here never ceases to amaze me lol
I was looking for a second half where we did not concede (tick),
comfortably kept possession (cross),
no injuries (tick),
no bookings (cross cross cross cross),
introduced some youngsters (cross),
son got his hatrick (cross),
and sure that a poor palace side were not humiliated (tick).

Those with a memory slightly longer than a fish will remember that Defoe scoring the same goal 9 times against wigan (OK 5) was the back drop to all our subsequent games with them.
They upped their game every time and we dropped points.

Don't want to sound like a COMPLETE whopper but I'm a bit gutted that Man U and Chelsea won against teams that are apparently giving the Top 6/4 a push.

I get what you're saying and agree (y) , but ultimately if we want to achieve we should be masters of our own destiny as opposed to being reliant on others doing us a favour.

I hope you weren’t watching Sky this afternoon David. They had Troy Deeney in the studio and he misused the word ‘literally’ about three times in every sentence.?

From the very brief highlights on YT just now it would seem Aurier had a good day going forward and not much to do at the back. Long may that continue!

Compared to the two previous home games think this was a different level, more positive passing , looks like the unsettled squad Poch talked about is over , roll on Wednesday.

Great first half, best first half we've played in years, if I was being ultra critical, it would have been nice to get a couple more in the second half, but it's obvious that game management and one eye on next week's CL was the order of the day for the second half. Really pleased that we kept a clean sheet and there are no more injuries.

A useful stat, Palace are the first side to play at our new place twice even though most teams have not played there yet, and the combined score is 6-0, I'll take that all day long.

That's a fact not a stat.

Ohh I missed games like this. Strong, confident, nice football, lot of fun. Second half not so good but we were 4:0 up so we were allowed to slow down.

I was watching Aurier very carefully whole game. Think he was very good but to be perfectly honest, made one bad pass in second half that could end very bad, also some unsuccesfull first touches. But it's his first game this season so we should forgive him that today. Beside that, he was great in defence. Strong and aggresive. Those few headers were great. Also two assists, great cross for Son second goal. He is our best right back.

Also, looks like we have to get used to Kane playing as second striker/number 10. It's strange to watch but after year I think it's not a coincidence that he keeps playing like this.
