Two that were particularly painful to lose at the time were Bentaleb and Veljkovic - but neither has progressed. They wouldn't get close to the first team squad today.

Bentaleb offers a lot more at DM/base-of-midfield than our current options Dier and Winks. He is quality but with a crappy attitude that wouldn't get him anywhere near a Poch squad.

Our Under-16s lost 5-3 to Norwich yesterday, with Roshaun Mathurin scoring all our goals with a perfect hat-trick, one being a free-kick.

Roshaun was previously with Chelsea. Anyone know if they let him go or if we pinched him?

Again for info. The discussion is about those we have let go. Not the ones we kept. Please read the thread and follow it through o the end?
Was responding to you saying that 'we're not producing enough youth to use'

I agree that nobody we've let go has made an impact anywhere else and i believe its down to how little we spend on acquiring the talent. A lot of the people talked about in the last few pages aren't top prospects so quibbling over whether Tottenham should hold on to Marsh over Shashoua is not that interesting to me.

I believe all the boys that went on Loan recently pushed for their loans, as they did their time in U23s and knew if they stayed another year at that level , they could have ended up stagnant and in no mans land , like the lads before them . I have a feeling tomorrow you may see Tanganga , Parrott and Bowden as part of the squad , as we won’t want them pressuring to go on loan as well . But then you have winks Skipp and Bowden all very similar in their play . The worry is Are they going to have enough playing time between them .

bowden is still very slight so i don't think he should be anywhere near the squad at present, he needs a solid year of u23s first and then a loan next season - not that i think this will happen though. with one week of the loan window left i'd like to see the following go out:

austin, hinds, eyoma, tanganga, oakley-boothe, tracey

i don't expect all of them to go, or even half, but hopefully one or two do. that would leave the u23's roughly with a squad of:

whiteman, de bie, oluwayemi (kurylowicz)

tainio, okedina, dinzeyi, lyons-foster, statham (binks, walcott, cirkin)

bowden, maghoma, shashoua, patterson, pochettino, thorpe (white)

markanday, mukendi, clarke, richards, parrott (bennett, etete)

still more than enough numbers there to get by. i feel like i've made a similar post every year for the past three or four though and it never works out the way i envisage.

i had this convo with chelseayouth a while back but i can't remember whether he said mathurin left or was released, i know he only joined a couple of years back so he hasn't been with us for that long. he does look a good player though, similar to j'neil bennett.

I assume he left as he is a Spurs fan.

Another fact about him that many if not all of you won’t know is that he has been called up for England multiple times but Tottenham have blocked his call-ups and not even he knows the reason why.

That's a bit weird. Can't recall them doing that to anyone else. At least you'd think that they'd give him an explanation.

What is the problem pritchard got from playing too much football at a young age? Club might be wary of that?

Anyway just speculation. Sure the club has the players best interests at heart.

I really wonder if Poch shouldn’t do what he did last time he had a bunch of guys who didn’t want to run and press - throw in some kids who will. Putting in Skipp and Parrott could light a fire under some of the rest of them.

That is interesting. I cba to go back to my post but I'm sure I had him down last season as one of the ones I expected to get a call-up to the u15s as he would be a hard one to pass on. He has definitely grown a lot and looks more like a WF. Never heard of us blocking callups before but it sounds harsh on him. Hinds is the only other one I know that got called up but then missed a tournament and never got back in again, as teams settled.

He's been with us since he was an u13 as he came in start of the 16/17 season. I assumed he was released tbh, as Chelsea usually have their way, but nice to hear he is a Spurs fan

Hype train starts now. Need something to cheer me up lol

While that's lovely, that former Spurs and Chelsea academy coach said TOB and Kirby were the most talented he worked with and look how that's ended up for them so far haha. Mathurin is definitely talented and he seems to have started the season well so hope he continues that trajectory.

Also great Pedder had a good game the other day. Don't think the new intake is the strongest but hopefully some of the talents like Pedder and John can step up and some later developers come through. It's next year's that will hopefully be really good.
