if poch wants to play this system I want him to fuck off out my club. got out of jail last week and were woeful today again. we have one of the best strikers on the planet and our manager thinks a system where he sticks as many players in the same section of the pitch is the best way to get the best out of him. we will get hammered next week, tactically we look like something from the 90s.

Not sure about Poch out. But 100% agree with the formation.
Everyone stepping on each other’s toes up top in the narrowest formation ever conceived. Leave Kane to do what he does better than anyone else.
If Son and Moura can’t complement from other areas on the pitch they shouldn’t play.
At the moment we’re picking the ‘best’ individual players and just chucking them on to the pitch in their best position.
Not what’s best for the team.

How is it so obvious to everyone else? But Poch doesn’t get it until the 80th minute ?

2 shoots on the goal in the first half is pathetic. We were playing without a creative midfielder and that became pretty obvious when Eriksen and Lo Celso came in. We finished the game with 17 shoots. And our best chance was neglected by a blatant penalty ignored by Mike Dean. What a awful performance, we cannot win shit playing like this.

Can't help but feel Poch's heart isn't really in it anymore. 100% something going on behind the scenes. Vertonghen, Davies and Eriksen have to start next week.

No identity, no intensity, no idea.
Don’t necessarily disagree with not starting Eriksen bearing in mind contract situation but first half the only player with the confidence/skill to move the ball forward and cross was Toby. This is seriously worrying bearing in mind what a good defender he is as well and we may lose him in the next week

He might be, but he'll just get angry and attack the journalists as he tends to when questioned

He has gone weird and bitter, maybe we'll get the old poch back someday and the old poch football to go with it.

Never this slow, boring and unadventurous at Southampton or the first couple years here

And with much lesser players!

thing is, we’ve been playing like this since the turn of the year. and now he has his new toys that he so moaned about.

he’s running out of patience from me with shit like today. we look miles off being a goood side at the moment.

Agree
No identity or method
I really hope this isn’t how he’s always wanted to play. If it is he’s got the wrong players to play it.

2 shots on target vs Newcastle at home. That’s a disgrace

When the players start deciding the tactics, the starting 11 and the approach to the game....

This is on Poch and it's not a one off. We've been looking turgid for more than a year with occasional bright spots.
We've been looking turgid for more than a year because of lot of reasons. Most of the reasons have to do with the players.

We lost Dembele. Alli has been consistently hurt. So has Kane. Eriksen, Verts and Toby have all been in contract disputes. Walker left and was never really replaced. These are big issues.

It's going to take some time to introduce our new players into the squad and get us back to where we've become accustomed to being the past 5 years. There is no magic pixie dust Poch can sprinkle over the players and turn KWP into Walker and Winks into Dembele. As much as everybody wants to pretend they're not they are inferior players compared to the ones we lost.

Generally, when you have a defensive minded coach like Pochettino, the attack will suffer somewhat. You won’t be playing Klopp or Pep style attacking football.

The really alarming thing is though we even look poor defensively.

What makes it worse is that I knew that was coming today.

We thought we only had to turn up

I could see it coming too but I don't even think that in bold is the case. To me it looks like a clear case of us not having a set of instructions to play in an effective way, you stick Messi in that team today and we still would have looked like shit. It's worrying to be fair.

The level of performance has been so low in the league for a while now and the most worrying thing about it is the lack of improvement in that respect. No increase in urgency in the first half or until we concede, barely ever leading at HT at home, constant side to side passing, slow build up, a lack of movement amongst the midfielders and attacking players etc. All of these are now somehow constants in our play.

There's just way more negatives to our play than positives right now.

What has happened to this team, last season was shit and the first 3 games have been woeful.

Seems to be getting really stale under Poch now.

no team has a divine right to win, but it feels like something is seriously wrong with our club currently. We have no cohesion or urgency, sick of hearing the players sprout of to the media how they want to challenge for trophies but then don't don't do their talking on the pitch. I didn't seem anybody try and lead or try something different today, was like watching 11 chess pieces move left and then move back right. we lack flair players, we lack creative player and we lack intelligent players, we lack a player than can beat a man, poch has built a squad of practical clones, he seems to have fallen out with half our better players, verts now frozen out, rose left out of preseason but then playing every game. toby, Eriksen going to walk for free. think we have gotten stale

Fuck off spurs. We've been shit for months. If Eriksen, Vertonghen, even Poch etc don't wanna be there then fuck off. Fed up of this shit.

Bunch of fucking losers.
I think Poch might be huge in this. He’s doing weird shit that eventually gets you fired. Stubborn and bullish with his tactics and getting found out again and again against so called lesser opposition.

We might not have to buy GLC after all

This has just got to be down to dressing room problems. No-one looking like they can be arsed. No tactics, seemingly.
I was beginning to think that for some stupid reason we were purposely using the first half of
games to suss out the opposition.
Very worrying display in every way. As a few people have said.....something is very wrong about the attitude and desire of the players and of Poch. Maybe he isn’t so happy with the way the signings were late (apart from Ndombele). The info was that he wanted players bought in early. Erikson is unbalanced, Lo Celso not fit. Dele injured. Sessegnon who knows. Jan who knows what’s going on there. Somebody needs to take a grip of this team and give them some bloody passion to play for Spurs.
We couldn't have got the signings done any earlier really, certainly not such that we would have had them sooner for preseason. Sessignon is injured, lo celso on holiday and we got ndombele in early.

But something is very very wrong. I personally think that the Eriksen situation is at the heart of it. We dont know how to create without him and dont yet have an alternative way of playing.

Poch needs to really sort this out or we will lose everything that we have worked so hard for over the last 5 years.
