Also - he had to negotiate with United as they wanted the swap deal. I would have thought Juve wouldn’t have accepted the bid or made it public if they knew he had absolutely no interest in going.

He also swithced agents when he moved to Juve. Current agent is not really a football agent but a friend of his father. He was apparently asking United a fee of 15m eur as well.

I am pretty sure we would be fully aware of this.

This is by no means a easy transfer to do.

If the whole world is aware of those considerations, why would we go to the trouble of agreeing a fee if we didn't intend to deal with them?

This is a distraction. They are trying to get PSG to up their bid by leaking to DiMarzio that we had agreed a fee. If United balked at his wages and agent fees where do you think we are on that. PSG are his only exit route.
