Castles has just clarified that the Dybala info is from Ian McGarry on his podcast. No idea how clued up he is but maybe more reliable?

Looking on reddit he's not reliable, aaaanddd :

Fair enough. If we sign Lo Celso and Dybala, Alli could soon see himself dropped. He was bang average last season. Him and Dier seem to have this idea that they are irreplaceable, mainly because we have never had any competition for them.
What gives you the impression Dier or Alli think they're irreplaceable?

Why would they all of a sudden get ideas of beeing irreplaceable??? It is well known our players played more and went further in the WC than most of our competition.
I’d like to think it is more plausible that players like Alli suffered from fatigue rather than some sort of ”primadonna syndrome”

I'm actually getting tired of people making Dier and Alli the new scapegoats.

Both were exhausted and injured last year. Alli had to play a completely different role and yet still managed to produce at key moments. He is not only a top level talent, he is a big game player.

Dier may not be dynamic but he can play 2 positions to a very high standard. I'd certainly be gutted if sold either one of them.

If people are listening to “journalists” like Castles and McGarry then they’ve nobody to blame but themselves and obviously haven’t been paying attention.

Might go against the narrative, but neither of them were great 17/18 either.

I'm still looking for someone to really justify the hype around Dybala when you look at his international record, going missing in big games, lack of passing composure, and just a decent goalscoring record for by far the best team with hardly any competition in an inferior league.

I think here's way too much Football Manager and YouTube excitement going on. Personally, I don't want to sign him.
You could say Messi goes missing in internationals aswell and has scored his goals in a two team league.

After this rumour appeard I started to worry about this window. It's now becoming just to similar to previous years.

It's going to be a painful finish, especially if Arsenal are on the verge of a marquee signing like Nicolas Pepe (along with their Ceballos loan and beating us to Saliba).

Another failed window with the most profitable club in Europe.

I really hope I'm wrong.

Just hope the Pepe deal motivates us to seriously go for Dybala and of course sign up GLC in the process.

There isn't any need for Arsenal transfers to be in this thread.

It had just about move back on topic, let's not take it further away

What’s annoying is apparently this is the window we properly go for it but as it stands Arsenal are completely showing us up.

It feels like we’ve been here before a million times before. I sincerely hope Levy properly backs Poch this summer. Poch was pissed off at being asked about signings and our transfer business post United game, it could be read in different ways but for all our sakes I hope Poch is delighted with our business when the window closes and not pissed off.

Don’t worry, you are wrong. ?

To expand, we already have one marquee signing under our belt, are linked with another (two more precisely since we’re in this thread), are linked with a massive young prospect and have signed a promising youngster (or two).

But yes, a season long loan, a young defender they’ll get after another season and a link to a quality signing will be a much better window.
