Arse mania :

Chelsea, Sp**s and ManU haven't really been better than us. Actually the opposite imo, it's still shocking we had this complete loss of confidence during our 8 game horror show at the end. Should've come 3rd.
( Find that a strange stance considering how Chelsea embarrassed them in the final)

There were a fair few occasions during their so called glorious years when all they aimed for was 4th place and CL qualification.

We came pretty damn close often enough despite all our troubles and perceived shitness.

Its just deflection, they havent realised the owner will let arsenal drift into mid-table, or worse so long as he makes a profit to invest into other teams. I reckon wolves or leicester or everton will give arsenal a run for their 40p this year.

As I understood it the reason Arsenal had a load of accessible cash floating about (mysteriously called their treasure chest) was a condition of the banks, against the debts. The banks also required that Wenger be kept as manager during that time.

They could have paid the banks back or restructured the loan. They chose not to because the interest was so low. Can you imagine the banks telling arsenal in 2006 to build up their bank balance until it's £240m? Arsenal have never been in any danger of missing a payment.

It is a manageable debt. They still owe about £240 mil IIRC. £20m p.a. until 2031

seen it mentioned a few times about how they fucked up their last 8 games, don't think they realised we fucked up most of our last 12 to let them get a sniff, and we had players at the World Cup and an injury list all season. yes I know they had major probs with injuries to their defenders, but not sure they had any if many at the WC

Shh. Let them live in their delusions.

-he's going to be terrifying to play against, could immediately be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, à la Kanté. It makes me sick to my stomach.

-Yes he is really good. Never would imagined Tottenham would be able to get him.

-I already know we are but we arent competing with then for 4th. It is chelsea and United. The odds are against us when they have ndombele and also ceballos coming in on a loan. Idk if Eriksen stays but if he does they will dominate our average midfield.
Ndombele is way better than bakayoko but okay. We will see if he flops

-Honestly spurs getting him is going to be like when they had dembele except even worse for us. Sucks they got him.

-I think he's top 5 CMs in the prem now.

-What happend with Tottenham selling all their best player because of stadium debt, lmao? Just because we fucked up, that does not mean they will do the same.

-Pep and City were looking to sign Ndonbele. Apparently as a Fernandinho replacement. I think only KDB and Bilva are better central midfielders than him. David Silva doesn't have the physical ability and Gundogan is some way off.

-Yeah I've been told for years that the likes of Kane will push for moves like Cesc and RvP did and I'm still waiting on that happening. Any day now, right guys?

-Then the people saying we have nothing to be worried about, they're unsustainable, they'll never overtake us etc. should've thought about that before spending the last five years spouting that garbage.

If I could put all that to music I would have it on a loop all day.

This thread is wall to wall affirmation. It's the equivalent of being able to listen to people's eulogies about you before you died.

They still have massive debt. They will be paying off their stadium till 2031.
I never said that straight after the stadium was built they had more money than the rest of the prem. I was answering a post that said that they couldn't spend for a decade after the stadium was built. I was pointing out that this wasn't true that they could spend and didn't and they built up a bank balance that was bigger than the rest of the pl combined.

I read a comment on F365 talking about this. He was in finance or something. Essentiallyu said that they should have splashed the cash back when they had it as now, due to FFP and their falling profits they can't spend.

Sp**s splashing £60m on Ndombele... thats 150% of our supposed transfer budget this summer, and its the biggest transfer ever done by our two clubs.

I am embarassed by the state of our club at the moment. We need to fix it and we need to fix it fast.

So we have smashed our (and their) transfer record and are still going, while they are scratching around throwing about moody bids for the likes of Zaha and Maguire.

That there is black and white how far we have come and how far they have fallen.

Good article from swiss ramble regarding their finances.

The thing is that Americans sports are franchises and you get American Football and baseball teams playing in different cities .
They take things with "if we don't make money here we will move to another city" attitude.
Well if they don't invest in Arsenal there team will lose pot loads of money when the fans stop coming and they will stop coming if not challenging the elite the same goes for Chelsea and trying to move the club is an absolute no no.
I can see us pulling further away from Chelsea and Arsenal and I also feel we will be challenging for the title next season with some more quality signings Unlike Arsenal who can't afford to spend and Chelsea who are not allowed to spend.

It's strange. For a long time now I have this impression that Arsenal fans don't care about how good (successful) they club once was and how far away they are from being that club again. All they care about is to be again above us. It's more painful for them that we are good then that they are shit.
