One of the great tragedies was that Ally Dick wrecked his knee in that game but was forced to play on with the injury and as a result was never the same player.

I wonder whether his agent at the time, David Dein's son, might have had a certain bias in his advice to him to leave?

We are paying the price of DL not doing due diligence on Paraticci. He left Juve under a cloud but we seem to have ignored that when we hired him. It was reasonably foreseeable that what happened would happen .The structures are mostly his and now that he has gone they have to be replaced.

Aston Villa apparently won it according to their website. Who did we go out to?

I agree that there is a problem. Hard to tell if John McDermotts' departure was a cause or a symptom. Having the best facilities whilst not having the best of anything else doesn't cut it any more. We clearly do not pay the going rate for signing the best players at 16 ( Allegedly Chelsea are...

I don't think Spursplay is going to be an easy watch for Spurs youth watchers this season.

I agree. It is really disappointing to see kids we have nurtured and developed going elsewhere for the money. The irony is that often we sign these players from smaller clubs eg Meghoma who I believe we signed from Wycombe a few years ago. He came to us no doubt because of the better facilities...

Surely if they are at all decent they will have a pre contract. I remember we blocked Nya Kirby from signing for Chelsea when he was 16 and eventually he signed for Palace.

Not sure that is correct. Liverpool potentially may have to to eventually pay Fulham over £ 4 million as comp for signing 16 year old Harvey Elliot.

If the teams cannot agree compensation it can go to a tribunal to decide the comp. but essentially if a young player wants to go then he will. I hope Levy is as awkward as can be because this is and will be a growing trend. Previously Man U etc. picked on the youth stars in Europe eg Granacho...

And I would not be surprised if we lost another Jayden next year. Jayden Dixon, year below Meghoma is I believe a huge Liverpool fan. He has been in England U15 squads. Disappointing to lose these young players, and we do not have much luck with players from Man U or Liverpool going the other way.

Has anybody noticed Woolwich signed a kid called Jimmi Gower as a 1st year trainee this year? Turns out he is the son of Mark Gower who used to play for us in the 80's. and came up through our youth ranks. Eventually left for Swansea. Makes you wonder how we missed him.

I saw him in the FAYC 1975-6 against Burnley and Wolves. He was from a different galaxy from all of the other players. My favourite insult from the Hoddle naysayers was he would not make it because he was a 'ballerina' not a footballer. The one player who I really thought would have a big...

It wasn't my case that when Montreal/Bologna signed Binks they did so with the thought that he would replace Tomiyasu or similarly PSV with Noni/ Bergwijn but just that it was ironic that we might sign players who might end up being replaced by ex Spurs players. Having said that I can see why...

Anybody notice who will be in the frame at Bologna to replace their centre half if we buy him - Luis Binks. So € 20-25 on him and about the same for Bergwein who was replaced at PSV by ...Noni from us. Seems cheaper to make these players top paid when they are at Spurs to ensure they don't leave...
