Was just watching a Feyenoord few days ago on a stream. Their league soccer is really played at a much slower pace. Appointing him carries a larger risk than a Premier league or Bundesliga manager.
I would think from a manager's point of view of selecting a club, it would be how I can progress my career.
For Slot, it would be progress from his point of view, I suspect. From JN's point of view, it's a step down. I don't understand why he would want to choose us. I think sometimes we think...
He is basically saying we don't have the the creative players to beat the man and we lack depth, and unless that is addressed, be contented to get at best 5th.
I read it as we have been beaten black and blue by Inter (for Bremer). Well, we tried (no harm trying), but there's now nothing more (for this purchase) that we can do.
From what you said, it means there will be no 'increase' in midfield fluidity, just means there will be more consistent solidity when PEH or Skipp is out.
So I will temper my expectations a bit and expect more consistency, but we will still lose to the big teams..at least till the summer?
I don't think it is Levy meddling beyond what was agreed at the start. The free rein given to DOF would obviously come with a budget constraint. The fact that Ndombele and the rest can't be shifted means we can't find $ for creativity. The reason we are buying defenders first simply shows our...
I started supporting Spurs during the Gascoigne era. There were moments of magic but no trophies. It was enjoyable.
Do I want to go back to that era with moments of magic but no trophies? I'm not sure. Our hopes have been lifted with CL delivered by Redknapp, Jol and Poch.
But we have to be...
Under Poch we had Eriksen and Dembele. They controlled MF. Yes, I agree we did well against Liverpool without possession. But my point is, the reason why we we are not being aggressive for matches we can afford to is because Mourinho thinks our MF cannot control the game.
Actually, I don't know. Mourinho is an experienced coach. There must be a reason why he is not mixing it up in terms of playing counter attacking football with possession football. He surely must have looked at the fitness of our MF and decided we are just not there yet....
I don't think it is the fear of success. But I agree it is mental, more specifically the confidence in the defence. A leader in defence who oozes calm. Once we have that, when we score, we know we will win.
I am confident Jose will find that defender.
Voted for 4th. I think Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea will be top 3. They are just having a blip. Their firepower will overcome their defensive frailties.
Strangely, I think 4th will be between Everton, us and Arsenal.
As much as we say our defence will be the cause of our inability to win...
I am not sure the reasoning of finding Ings overpriced holds water. The logic that he is worth more to Southampton than he is worth to us sounds reasonable, but if you think deeper, he IS worth that much to us.
He is, I feel the difference between CL or EL. Bale will need a few months to get...
Levy is probably haggling with some chairman somewhere about 'selling' Poch. Too high a price for a low value asset. I think we have to wait three 'transfer windows' before Poch leaves. ?
