The pen was a joke however I agree with the initial free kick it was obstruction. Some how I got the feeling this would happen the amount of chances we had and didn't score plus we are pretty crap at keeping clean sheets.

Not good enough I'm afraid
i will agree with you if the goal we conceded was not due to ridiculous decisions by corrupted refs

We've already been nobbled before we've really got started. Two games with two very harsh decisions. What's the point of even trying to compete when the same shit won't happen to Yanited or Pool.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce talking to Sky Sports: "I can understand why Spurs will go beserk and Roy Hodgson reacted like he did. It is a total nonsense, we should be jumping through hoops but I would be devastated if that was us. Maybe Roy is right, maybe we all need to get together. The decisions are ruining the spectacle. We have to get together as managers and say this must stop.

This is the ONLY way this gets fixed. Clubs and fans of all clubs, need to get together and try and get these outrageous laws looked at.

Our strikers should just aim for the arms/hands of opposition defenders going forward. That’s how ridiculous this has gotten. More chance to score that way.

Good to see the players and staff finally shouting at the refs though. Really should be surrounding and shouting them down

Totally agree. Apart from the 'not angry' bit. I am furious.

Ill probably be angry once this jazz cigarette I smoked at full time wears off.

But yeah, furious in all reality. Disappointed and furious.

And a lil but sleepy....

... but also kinda hungry.

This is the wrong decision that wounds us. Then a correct call with a bullshit rule finishes us off.
It's ok though, because it "evens itself out". The next ref will use common sense / the FA will change the stupid rule, just in time for our opponents to start defending with their arms.

Last season Kane should have been awarded 3 stonewall penalties in August, but the ref played it safe and waited for a VAR review, to make sure he got it right. VAR didn't overall the ref's decision not to award a penalty (even though he was wanting VAR to make the call to avoid the very mistake that VAR enforced). Those penalties would have completely changed our start to the season - even without the postivei impact on morale and momentum gained, the extra points directly earned from those penalties would have had us in 5th/6th place at the time Poch was sacked. A couple of month's into the season, officials and the VAR team got their act together and a couple of penalties were soon awarded against us when the ref didn't blow for it and VAR overruled, even though they were far less stonewall than the ones we'd missed out on.

I get it. But it’s a case of cutting off nose to spite face. I’ve felt like it before and in fact did quit Sky a few years ago cos I was sick of seeing Thierry Henry’s mug ?. That said the mugs know we will be back as not watching is not an option. 5 live only appeals for a bit.

I can only speak for myself but I wont be watching or listening to football, absolutely pointless to do so whilst a rule which so fundamentally breaks the game is still in place. I am powerless to do anything but stop watching and so that is what I will do. I'll come on here and I may read the BBC or whatever's match report but I am done.

I have been having issues with my heart, hence my post on here in the Bale thread about being in hospital. Quite frankly this is bullshit I can do without.

Don't think I've ever been so angry after a game of football. What pisses me off most is that there is zero accountability from officials, they never have to explain their awful decisions and anyone who dares question them gets sent off or fined. This has always been the case and has somehow got worse with VAR.
I agree that particularly with VAR reffs should explain more. But in this case they were correct. By the letter of the law that's a handball, the one we conceded against Southampton was not, and was probably an incorrect decision.

An issue is the media who make decisions such a big talking point, often preferring to talk about that over the game, and it was this that pushed for VAR and for trying to make the rules more objective, less that you can argue with. But refs feel under attack, and I think they do feel like they are unfairly targeted, which is true btw, but it has created a situation where you have these strong laws I guess they feel to not create an open season on refs.

Only reason why i'm really pissed off is why was N'Dombele's cross that hit a hand about 2 mins before their disgraceful decision not looked at? absolutely a big worry for football what is going on.

Jose and the players need to pick themselves up after that and we, as fans, need to do similar. There was a lot in that match to be positive about performance wise. Passions are obviously high in here, quite rightly, but when the dust settles there are good signs for the rest of the season (at least in relation to matters within our control). We just have to hope that common sense wins out and the rules change.

I feel more connected to Spurs today than for most of the past 12 months. We’ll get there. ?

We were very good today.

Two things:
1) the mental schedule meant Jose had to plan and manage the squad
2) this fucking nonsense rule has cost us two points today

Until they are gods among us they can do whatever the fuck they want.

Need some kind of punishment. Even if it's not "in the legal ways". ;)
