Jenas definitely has a chip on his shoulder about Jose being our manager. He is a good pundit/presenter, but his coverage of Spurs is getting pretty unprofessional imo.

Problem is, Jenas didn't have the mentality to be a real top player. Therefore he won't understand Dele being in the exact same position, in that he's shown he has the quality but does he have the hunger and desire to get to the top and stay at the top. Currently the answer is no.

I like Jenas as a pundit but he does seem to have an issue with Jose. I'd take what he says more seriously if he had realised his potential and become the player he could've been instead of being a run of the mill midfielder.

There’s a reason Jenas peaked as a cog in a side who finished 5th and as soon as that side started pushing on and challenging at least for the top positions, he dwindled into a bit part player and ultimately ended up in the footballers graveyard that was QPR back then.

People are bothered by Jenas and some throw away comments, it's not a surprise is it?

I think he will leave if you want my honest opinion, and honestly I don't really care. He has been infuriating for 2-3 seasons now, he was constantly given a by ball by Poch, Jose warned him and has now clearly called him on it and has threw the head up. The ball is in his court but I have a feeling he will be another young player who will regret the acts of his youth.

I like him, but if his time is up here then so be it, he's done some good things in the shirt for sure.

Like you I like him, but there is no argument he has regressed massively, his main problem is he cant play wide, he cant play deep, he is not really a creative 10, its hard to put him in a position to get the best out of him.

His early days at MK Dons he wasn't afraid of moving with the ball, but that seem to change once he arrived here. Timed runs, taking up good areas on the pitch in and around the box, bit old fashioned in a way. You'd like to say he'd be good playing off a target man but some times his creative side and work on the ball let's him down. Probably not popular but my dad always likens him in a way to Martin Peters :)

I think the main problem with the entire Dele debate is that Dele's bad performances are being put down to a lack of effort on his part or poor management from Jose.

However, unless played very high up the pitch as pseudo-striker, Dele has always looked a bit crap.

We don't play with a system that suits him anymore and, surprise surprise, he no longer looks great. I suppose it's partly his fault as I don't think he's worked hard to adapt his game or improve, but it's rare for footballers to completely change their whole style of play and their very qualities as a footballer.

Personally I think the writing is on the wall and Dele is never magically going to turn into a wide forward, a passing no.10 or a CM - that's just not him and we shouldn't really expect it of him either.

Times have changed and Dele no longer fits in anymore. So he either has to accept a bit part role or he needs to move on. Simple as that. Either that or he waits until Jose gets sacked and prays we bring in someone who plays a system that suits him.

Jenas has turned into a right prick. Dele isn’t getting in the team because he’s been useless for over a year and, as clearly shown, he trains like fucking shit. Why does he deserve to get into the team over the likes of Ndombele and GLC when they’ve managed to convince Mourinho they deserve to play?

This is it for me. Dele can’t claim he has been mistreated when he has had his chances but failed to take them. If he wants more he needs to get his head down and train hard then use his minutes to make an impact. We want to win, we want to challenge, you don’t do that by just picking players on past form who are phoning it in. Those days have been and gone, and thank god for that

I just don't understand why this is such a big story, I used to get so frustrated when both Eriksen and Dele would go through such shit patches of form and continue to get picked. We finally drop a player because others are playing better and it's somehow news. For ages we were criticized for lacking options and only have a strong 11. We've finally signed players the calibre Lo Celso and Ndombele who make it so that Dele position in the squad isn't safe and suddenly now it's a bad thing?

This should be normalised. Player loses form, gets taken out the team and comes back with more energy. Fergy was the absolute master of this. Infact thinking about how fergy used to do it and allowed players a mental refresh. Infact just writing this out has made me realise I feel Dele actually desperately needs this moment because he is probably extremely mentally fatigued as a lot of our players are and is suffering burnout, if we can have him not starting and allowing him to mentally refresh, I reckon he could get back to his best.

I’ve always been a fan of Jenas as a pundit, but to say Dele needs to leave because of how he’s been treated is nonsense. Dele might well need to leave for a change of scenery, but certainly not because of his treatment from Jose. He’s been dropped for 2 matches for Christ sake, after not playing well for months.

It’s absolutely deserved because other players are playing better than he is. I think Jose was hoping that showing him the love and talking him up when he came in would have a reaction. It did to an extent but he’s dropped off again now and so is taking another approach, like he should. It’ll be a shame if it doesn’t, we all love Dele but the team comes first unfortunately.

It’s laughable that Mourinho is being blamed when GLC and Ndombele are playing much better under exactly the same coach. I’d love to see Jenas explain that one away.

Seems Mourinho has thrown down the gauntlet and it's up to Dele to take on the challenge. It will either spur Dele on or convince Mourinho he's not got what it takes. Dele's had a bit of a comfy ride so far and hasn't been under this type of pressure and scrutiny and it's about time he fought for his place.

I’m delighted he’s been dropped. No one should be undroppable unless they’re more valuable than other players competing for their position- that’s how good teams work. If he’s got any mettle, he’ll be back hungrier and more determined, meaning the squad is better for it. If he can’t cope with it, and messages are possibly being sent to pundits like Jeans that he’s being poorly treated then he needs to grow up and stop being so entitled. Either that or he needs to start looking for another club and accept he may have to make concessions influencing that move.

And I’d say this about anyone who’d been inconsistent for a year or more. It’s definitely not personal to Dele.

Another thing, I find Mourinho much more likeable in the Amazon doc- he’s direct and honest, and that can hurt some players’ egos but they’re playing at the highest level of professional sport, being very well paid for it and should accept constructive criticism

I dont think dele problem is a lack of ability or attitude its more to do with him not really fitting the system or having a role. He isnt really a wide player though i thought in his early days he did play wide left quite abit. He isnt the most mobile and as hes got older rather than playing on instincts he seems to dwell on a pass or slow play more down than he did. The only position he truly execels in is more of a number 10/ 2nd striker where he make late runs but doesnt offer enough defensively for mourinho to want him to play in the 3 i dont think. Hope he moves for the sake of his career and rediscovers the magic ans promise he showed as a young kid.

He appears to have been far more effective playing for a coach who sets their team up to press high and is focused on maintaining possession, as opposed to a coach who sits deep and counters. I also believe that the team of 3-4 years ago was far superior to one we have now and maybe he was a luxury we could accommodate then, but definitely not now.
