Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. The 25-year-old Slovakian is regarded as one of the best young defenders around Europe right now and Jose Mourinho wants him to strengthen his side.

Something I've kind of expected. We want a Jose CB, he's an obvious one, not really in favor at Inter. Definitely could see it happening

Not sure how he fits in with the WBs we've bought and in that respect I'd prefer Dias. Having said that, Skriniar is a typical Mourinho defender and a top player too. Watching with interest.

No idea if the source is good but here's what the Italian story it's nicking says:

"Tottenham is back strong on Skriniar: the English club, at the express request of Mourinho, presented a first offer for the Slovakian defender of about 35 million to Inter. However, the Nerazzurri club values the central no less than 55/60 million. The difference between request and offer is therefore decidedly large but the negotiation has just come to life and the parties will return to confront each other in the coming days. In the event of a departure of Skriniar, Antonio Conte would like to replace him with Milenkovic of Fiorentina, a player who is also very popular with Milan and that the purple patron Rocco Commisso is not willing to sell for less than 40 million. As part of the contacts for Skriniar, between Tottenham and Inter there was no mention of Ndombele."

Inter is weird. First they could afford Messi, then they can't put together a loan offer for Alli, now they can demand a lot of money.

Maybe a loan of Dele as part of a deal for Skriniar?

Dele's not going anywhere. I wonder if this comes off it results in Dier going back to midfield.
Mourinho out(for me) if he puts Dier back in midfield due to anything other than every other CM option is injured.

Obviously I'm exagerating, but I never want to see Dier play there again.

Oh I agree but he obviously likes Dier. Actually our best performances in recent years were with Dier in midfield. Wouldnt be a bad thing if we could get that Dier back especially as we are being dominated there at the moment.

Lol not going to happen. Eric Dier can't play midfield.

I'd still be of the opinion that virtually all of our players shouldn't be judged on what they've done over the past 18 months, as nearly all of them have been playing with injuries, returning from long injuries, heavily fatigued (due to squad injuries) and generally off their best form....in a side that has looked completely out of form and a bit 'structureless' on the field. If, or hopefully WHEN, all our players are fit and all of them are in form, and when we've won some games and confidence is high, i'd happily bet Dier could look good in CM just as some of the 'lesser' players could easily slip into the team and perform an awful lot better than we currently think they could (Gedson for example).

Nothing to do with form, he's too slow and not mobile enough. This wasn't so much of an issue in Poch's old system, where he stepped back in as a CB, but as an out and out DM, just no!

IMO we were good with Dier in the 'hybrid' role and I also think his illness robbed him of a lot of energy andathleticism. At least, that's my hope. As of now though he needs to stay at CB.

The same player that was being selected for England based on form and capability.
