This style could work but we would need to buy 2 great CBs and a great DM. Can't keep hoping to win 1-0 with one of the worst defenses in Europe.
I don't see this style winning anything in 2021.

I just honestly can't see any style based around 20% possession beating the best teams in Europe, no matter how compact they are in defense.

Need to get rid ASAP.
Just as I suspected, united wasn't a blip. He's just massively finished at the top level. Wish he'd gone to arsenal, would've been hilarious

I hope his blip at spurs includes winning 2 x trophies in a season. Seeing we’ve won about 3 in 20 years.

This squad didn’t perform since late 2018 for Poch and it’s the same for Jose.

No I am BSODL but Levy really fucked up with this appointment. Mourinho was always the wrong choice and the performance this season continue to bear this out. 10 months is plenty long enough to have seen some sort of identity.l begin to develop.

Many fans have poured so much into the “Mourinho is a winner” line that they aren’t willing to accept how bad we are.

We need a coach to make us better than the sum of our parts. Atm we are much worse than the sum of our parts. Appalling
Was saying the same thing yesterday and got slaughtered on here for it
I understand patience and sincerely hope I’m proved wrong but are we prepared to put up with this when back as supporters in the stadium
Was talking to a die hard Man U supporter over the weekend and he said got to point where he didn’t want to watch his team anymore with that sort of football
We are all entitled to our our opinions but
We’re Tottenham Hotspur who play rock and roll football
This is hard to watch?

This classic excuse gets less believable with each signing we make post cl final

I think the biggest problem we have is that we're sacrificing attacking play and giving up control of the ball to be solid and more defensive, but our defence is utter dogshit. So we're not attacking or playing progressive football and we're not solid either. Every game is like a boxing slugfest.

I could maybe accept the less attacking style if we were solid, hard to beat and keeping clean sheets but we're not even doing that.
Agree. This is why I think we still need a top class CB and Regulion will help. Another quality CM needed too.
this style with bale son Kane can work but still a few pieces missing and we need to be more solid as a base first.

Completely get where you’re coming from and it’s not pretty and it could go tits up but dont forget Jose’s squad at man.u was pretty poor whereas the one we are building for him is starting to be quite immense. Weve won fuck all for so long let’s try and give this man a bit of time, today has shown how he’s trying to get us to play, it’s slowly starting take shape, the issue is we aren’t as solid as we need to be to play this way but add in a top CB, CM and bale and regulion and You’ll see how effective this style can be. Also it’s boring not winning anything and if this style gets us results I’m ok with it for a few seasons.

it took klopp 3 seasons to finish above us and he gradually changed basically the whole squad, i do think we really need to stay patient.
let’s get the signings in Jose needs first and then judge, even already we can see how PEH and Doherty have improved us.

He can fuck off. Turd.
Players aren't playing for him. This is only going one way.
“The tactics and plan” ?!!?

Genuinely curious what this is? Sit deep, give up possession and hit teams on the counter?
Need to get rid ASAP.

It’s not. We had two and a half poor performances. On top of many more after lockdown.

Since lockdown we’ve played well against Arsenal and Leicester. And half a game against Southampton.

Good second half though.

I think it's obvious what Jose is trying to do here, and it goes against most of our principles as to what good football is. Ndombele was probably our best player first half, but was also contributing nothing to the defensive shape of the team. It was very harsh to hook him, but undoubtedly we were a lot better as a team second half. Playing direct counter attacking football got us 5 great goals. We just need a new CB and a DCM alternative to Winks.

When you have forwards as good as ours, you just need to give them a bit of supply and a solid base to work off. See: Liverpool FC.

Seems he’s having to buy players to solve the problems though as we still have a lot of shit in there - Dier, Sanchez, Winks (sadly, even though he has the ability so hope he still comes good).

Looks like we’re gradually having to replace most of the team!

Hard to know if when we’re poor it’s because of Jose’s tactics being a bit off at times or just our squad being so poorly managed.

Yeah that's the issue, dorthey, peh, winks and Lucas, dier getting called out because theyre just decent.
Seems he needs 11 world class players on the pitch , when really he needs to make players perform above their limitations.

We'll see what happens come end of season, not confident though

It is a concern, although Mourinho has been trying to address the issues but Doherty and PEH are on him if they don’t improve us as his signings.

Just can’t believe how our squad went from so good to being so out of date so quickly!

We are moving in right way now but am concerned so many gaps to plug still, Jose definitely at least needs a centre back and that isn’t even factoring needing the centre forward cover!

Got it spot in again today, the team didn’t catch on until half time though. Southampton were seemingly on top but I said to my mate at half time the warning signs were there, disallowed goals, offsides. We just didn’t click until NDombele swivelled for our first. Suddenly we knew what we were meant to be doing.

We still have players playing for us that were at the pinnacle of Pochs time here and were average then - that's how it happens.

Ndombele = Passenger

Exactly the same player we saw last season. Four lovely bits of play in 45 mins from our central midfield playmaker

Needs to be sold and replaced in the next 2 weeks
