I know it's probably been discussed to death but in fairness to Jose with regards to the physio interactions, Geoff Scott is a constant smirker and even does it when delivering bad news. I don't think he does it on purpose but it must be slightly annoying to be told Son, Kane etc are out injured with a smile.

Just watched episode 9. Gutted all over again about Jan leaving.
hopefully he’ll be back at some point in a coaching role.

LEvy to Jose on Winks: "He must run a lot..." (nodding)

wtf.

That was soooooo cringe, Levy really did come across as someone that has no clue whatsoever about football. I got no doubts that he is a smart business man and can work a mean excel spreadsheet, but we really need a DoF who has some influence to oversee the football side of things.

Also Donna Cullen, jeez.. I don't even know what to say about her.

It's just crazy when i think about the people that are at the top of this club that I invest so much of my time and life into, absolutely crazy.

Maybe this was aimed more for the casual fan or neutral sports fan but they actually showed too much of the matches and press conferences which were already public knowledge imo.

I wanted to see in the dressing room at half time during Bournemouth and after for example.

Anyway overall it was decent just extremely edited.

Ive watched quite a few a sports documentaries of late, AoN, Last Chance you, Sunderland, Take me home and I'd say our one ranks in the middle somewhere. You could say average like our performances.

Yeah, was annoyed the amount of press conferences that were shown. Ended up just fast forwarding through them at a point.

Yeah, was annoyed the amount of press conferences that were shown. Ended up just fast forwarding through them at a point.

It must be very hard to hit all the levels they need to in terms of audience – the fan, the casual, the 'what's football?' crowd – and in terms of stakeholders - viewing figures/willingness of clubs to participate, club/Jose/Premier League PR, etc.

I think if you follow the team in question you're very aware of how much has been edited/manipulated to tell a narrative because we were there, we know what the actual feelings were at the time. The press conferences play into that as we've all probably seen them already, in full or cut-up. But for people not into football, that stuff won't be so known.

I personally could have done without the constant 'look at the work we're doing in the community' MESSAGE stuff. I know it humanises the players to an extent, and the Aurier bit was good, but players are contractually obliged to do it as part of their working week, it's not like they're starting grass-roots projects on their own time. It takes you completely out of the season narrative and felt like the fluffy bit on rolling news shows where you make a cuppa.

Of the LOTS on Harry Winks, I thought the best bit was the flashbacks to old footage, would have liked to have seen that of more of our players, quick journeys to where they are, and how that background resonated in the season. That would have felt more investigative. Some more digging into the personal motivations, rather than the PR ones.

I liked the stuff with Toby and his family when he signed the contract. I think the episode that showed the parallels with Toby and Jan was one of the strongest, as it showed the very real human side of ageing, and how this guy who's always been your brother in arms through life and who you actually pre-dated at the club suddenly gets treated differently to you, just because of time. It was really heartbreaking and bittersweet, as the best sports documentaries are.

I'd watch an entire documentary just on the life of Jan and Toby tbh.

Anyone else surprised at how quiet the dressing room was? Maybe it was down to the editing, but I thought it would be much louder.

A bit but they didn’t have a huge amount to cheer about most of the time!! Not too many nutters or wide boys etc in our 1st XI.

Jose keeps telling us what 'nice' boys they are Mores the shame for him!

Similarly, I was expecting more "Come on, they did us at their place, lets show them what we are really all about!" type motivations along with more emphasis on rivalries with say WH. But again could well be the editing.

Just finished the series. Nothing earth shattering and for the most part pretty dull imo

Quite enjoyed parts of the last episode with the focus on Ndombele

It also seems clear to me that Sonny does not enjoy Jose’s conflict style of management.
Poor lad was like a little puppy when he got smashed by Dier in training

To be fair, Rachel and Rachael (and probably RayChell these days, bloody young uns lol) are both commonly used spellings.

Better to check the spelling than get it wrong when you're using a permanent marker on someone's shirt.

Can see Bezos buying the club purely so that he can keep this series running. We're nothing if not entertaining. Frank Spencer FC.

Just finished the last 3 episodes, levy realllllllly doesn’t come across well, whereas Jose seems like a knight in shining armour - one thing that gets me (and my Mrs who doesn’t know/like football) but picked up on the players body language during team meetings is abysmal!

thst squad has some right rotten apples me thinks!

mid the bonus episode next Monday? Any ideas what’s in it?
The Players are less than impressed with anything that comes from the Portuguese Pulis

I'm more surprised by the coaching technique. Imo there's too much focus on negativity and what the opposition are going to do, rather than what we are supposed to be doing. If you keep bringing up being done by pace, conceding goals, being bashed up, they can beat us, etc, etc, you're gonna make it happen like a self fulfilling prophecy.
I know JM.has won everything and I've coached a shite pub team and kids football but this is kind of shit they tell you to avoid on your Level 1. The players do not look impressed imo.
