scored 22 at the age of 20, and he's had injury problems the last two seasons. There's an immensely talented player in there. Hell, Bale has only broken 20 goals once in the last 5 years and failed to reach double digits twice and it will be like the second coming of Jesus if he returns.
I’m not convinced we’ll ever see it for more than a game or two at a time. But we all have our opinions.

If it's due to his inclusion on Sunday I find that a shame as it suggests no change of shape or probably approach. The lopsided 4-2-3-1 will be another painful watch.
JM said in his presser he's only taking the 18 in the side to Bulgaria. The rest are going to stay home and train.

I find this narrative created by Mourinho interesting, in which the player must train hard, but Dele is specifically mentioned as lazy and still is a fixture in the starting 11. In my opinion, Dele will always present a tactical problem for us, since he occupies a position of creativity, but does not create plays at an elite level. Our current squad does not have the creativity to compensate for this weakness, we would need an excellent deep lying playmaker or players capable of being creators playing wide (neither Son nor the potential Bale are capable of being the main creator in my opinion). So, if a decent offer arrives, I would consider letting him go, but I am also not opposed to him staying, since his value will not fall because he is HG. But I find it increasingly difficult for him to be a starter in a Spurs team that hopes to fight for big things.

Because he's the type of player who demands to play. I really think if he's a squad player it wouldn't help the spirit within the dressing room having Alli as a squad player. The documentary gives you plenty of clues and I think Mourinho has read this hence these sale rumours.
How do you know he demands that, rather than tries to earn it? What evidence is there that he’s disruptive at all? All I got from the documentary is that Mourinho sees Dele as worth investing the coaching into to get him where he needs to be but thinks he currently falls short in terms of application.

Nothing that distinguishes it from the Telegraph piece but further confirms that Alli being the odd one out is going to become a big media narrative

The only player I would expect to hit over 20 goals in a prem season is Harry Kane. In our best recent season in 2016/17 we scored 86 goals with Kane (29), Dele (18), Son (14), Eriksen (8) totaling 80% of our goals at a tally of 69.

On paper we should have more goal threats this season (if everything pans out) with Kane, Son, Bale, then Dele leading the charge. That's not even mentioning the likes of N'dombele (who scored a few in limited time last year) and Lo Celso (who scored 9 in La Liga two seasons ago).

I understand that he's no traditional 10 and he has 33 PL assists in just over 150 matches. I would hope that this season, if players around him can stay healthy (last season we had NO ONE left by the end of the campaign) I'd love for him to hit double digit goals and assists. I think we will miss him more than we think once he's been away from the club. At the very least he's a great option to have this season, and has match winning moments in him.

I like Dele and would prefer he stay, although I don't think I'd be gutted if he left. My read on him is what we're seeing the last couple years are the growing pains of him trying to become a different sort of player. My memory of him his first couple years is that he played on the left a lot and was pretty anonymous / uninvolved but always had his great knack for making a good run into the box to score. In the last couple years, I think he's trying to be more of a facilitator or central cog in our attacking play (like prime Eriksen), but he's just not doing it consistently or well enough yet. I personally think it's an open question whether he'll ever pull it together to be a great facilitator, but think he's shown enough to be worth persisting with him longer.

What annoys me is this - if true - is classic Mourinho. Buy a 30 year old for mega money whilst failing to get the best out of an extremely talented young player.
Like Sess also. He just want to buy, not develop.
Get rid.

I am a big fan of Dele, but let's have it right here, he's been out of form for a long time before Jose came to the club....I have no problem with having a pop at the manger but this goes deeper than Jose.

Yeah. I agree. But isn’t that the job of the manager? To coach and improve players? You’re telling me that Klopp, Guardiola couldn’t get a tune out of him.

Also, name one young player Jose has improved in the last 5 years. I’ll make it easy. There isn’t one.

I dunno, maybe it’s me. But from what I’ve seen Spurs have been just like watching Utd under Jose. No spark. No verve. No attacking patterns. No passing combinations. And no, not just against Everton.

But whatever, let’s sell Dele, ship Sess off along with Parrott. See no improvement in any young player - I guarantee Bergwijn will stagnate - and let’s just buy our way to victory. The Jose way.

....and breathe ?

And the player himself, does he play any part in this improvement program or does it just happen and the player improves because the manger wants him to....Dele needs to sort himself out, he's been poor for a long time, lots of variables including injuries etc...but a lot of this is also down to him.

We have signed 22yrs old Bergwijn, 21yrs old Gedson on a loan, 25 yrs Hojbjerg, 28yrs Doherty and 33yrs 3rd goalkeeper. Will complete soon another 23yrs old in Reguilon. KWP is the only one young players who left permanent under Mou, and the others players who left were all nearly +30.

I'm sure Sess will benefit from loan in the same way as Skipp or Parrott

Buying our way to victory.... *checks notes* a Doherty and Hojbjerg at a time?

he played out wide his first three seasons though he was given freedom to roam.. He's been asked to be a more traditional CM the last 2 years. Just look where he lined up Sunday.

Regardless of where he plays, he's been in poor form for a long time and my point is its unfair to attribute that to Jose...

What was your opinion on spending 140m last summer under Pochettino?
That we should’ve spent it over the last two seasons and still didn’t get a striker.

Look mate, I’ll delighted if I’m wrong. Absolutely chuffed. If we play awesome football with a mixture of academy talent and world class players, I’ll be made up.
