3-4-3 now looks incredible on paper with Bale, Kane, Son up front. Our fullbacks more suitable for wing back roles (Doherty, Aurier, Reguilón, Sessegnon). Tanganga and Davies good options for right and left centre back. Is it something for Mourinho though?

Maybe but don't recall Jose every playing a 3-4-3 at other clubs.

He did say he had a fresh approach....

Also, Poch wasnt a 343 manager and we exclusively used that formation for a bit while he was here. Great managers can switch their formation around to make the team its best. Jose’s one of the best managers ever despite all the shit he gets. If he thinks a 343 would suit us best, he’ll use it.

If Bale is coming home, I for one wouldn't object to Eriksen back too TBH.. Save time looking for another creative CM. There I think we are sorted.

I personally don't like 3-4-3, but would not be against it in this situation if that is our line up! Nice one.

First off, let me say thank you all for an entertaining 100 pages of reading after getting home from work. Really, wow. Lots and lots of chuckles.

Valued at about 25M on TransferMarkt. How much is the depressed value due to Zizou not wanting to play him? Let's just agree there is still value there as perceived by those who rate/value these things.

So what does he bring? He is Bale. 80 goals 46 assists in 171 appearances for RM - goal ever 156 minutes (as compared to 43 goals and 31 assists in 146 games for Spurs - goal every 277 minutes). Few really big goals in there for Spurs and for RM. So, there's that. Last year was not stellar. 3 goals and 2 assists in all appearances. Only played the equivalent of 13 games in all competitions. Calf and ankle issues nothing new there. Can strike a dead ball better than anyone in our squad. Knows what it takes to win (didn't when he left). Let's say he can impart that knowledge, experience on Bergwijn, Sessegnon, Clarke, Dele, Kane, Son, Lo Celso, Ndombele. Even if for only a few years, his influence could have a knock on effect for years. If he just gets players to deliver proper corners and free kicks, it will be worth it. Eriksen (if I have it right) went over two years of PL appearances between free kick goals - and he was taking almost all of them. Dier, Rose, Lamela, Kane, Son all scored as frequently from free kicks in that same time period. Set pieces, we are terrible. Both ends. It's completely unacceptable.

So, am I for it? Absolutely. So long as the numbers can be worked out. I certainly note the DL pile on festival. He is not bothered by it so I will not dive in and overly defend his record. I do note several posters compared how our lack of ambition pales with that of Aston Villa and Everton. So, when ENIC (Levy) took over from Sugar in 2000, I believed that it was really Spurs, Everton and Villa who were best suited to move up to the level of the top clubs (we were not in the conversation at that point). The question was which club would do it? Everton did finish ahead of us in 2013/2014 and both finished ahead of us in 2008/2009 and 2007/2008. Everton have managed their finances ok. Villa have been relegated and are likely in violation (or very close to it) of FFPR. Levy's done his job. Facts are facts. We can argue forever and a day about whether Levy and Lewis should dump in their own funds to the club. As I have stated to many on other boards, pull up your 2.5-3B GBP and the club is yours. Do as you wish. Would then be odd to complain about oil money cheats when we are doing the same.

It is not Levy's fault that FFPR do not seem to apply to MCFC, PSG, Chelsea (net spend of 150M GBP with more to come) and the questionable finances of RM and Barca seem to not matter. We have the 6th best resources in the PL. Spend the 6th most on salary (which has gone up year on year all along), and since Jol, have been in the mix. I can wish for more (and we have finished higher than 6th), but I cannay expect more. What I do expect though (and this is where I feel we have all been let down) is that we win things. Ramos did. Harry was not willing to compete in anything not named the CL. Terrible attitude. Pochettino was the same. Collectively they managed Spurs for a lot of the last decade. That attitude is pervasive. We have won nothing!!!!! We mocked Arsenal for being a team that would just be happy to make the top 4. What have we been doing? And all without winning anything. I remember a time when we were the "cup" team. Where the HE double toothpicks has that gone? What does the year ending in 1 mean now? (might be coming up) This team/organization needs to learn to win. It will not be pretty. We have the right manager. Remember that when you start to complain.

Pieces are falling in place. Bale will be a part of that. Reguilon also would have me through the moon. Mourinho needs to re-invent himself. Levy needs to back him.

Second Striker will always be an issue. Kane is Kane. Whomever agrees to come is not coming to play ahead of him. Just a fact. Not much room in the bathtub with Kane in there. On Kane, yes, he may leave. Bale left. Didn't begrudge him it. Would not for Kane. So long as Spurs get full value. Trophies may help. More salary may help. But honestly, if RM or Barca really come calling, would you not go? Gareth Bale's net worth is 125M USD. Kane is at 40M USD. Any agent, family member, friend would tell him to go, if that's what he wants.

As things unfold, a little perspective is always helpful. Regardless of anything else, revenue streams will be there once the pandemic eases. We will not do a Leeds. Nor a Birmingham, Pompey, Bournemouth, Southampton (what manager was that?).

We are in good shape. Time to put all the pieces together. Bale is welcome with open arms.

Anyone else spot this plane? Looks like a private jet heading north from Madrid. Maybe, just maybe..?
