Good morning weebles

Today I thought it'd be nice if we went retro and had an opening post like we used to have when we first started this thread many, many years ago now.

OK, lets go!

On Friday, Trix said that there had been........
Some more movement although very slow regarding Bale yesterday. Ongoing but still moving in the right direction. Nothing normal about this one so how it pans out I don't know. Got a good feeling regarding the #1choice CF, I've been confident from the start we'd get one, and I feel it still.
It's all about feeling. oooh-er.

Then Hercules went big.....
As JJ has challenged the sceptics about the striker, I will do the same! Extremely confident about the striker. The specifics target is not from these shores, and I have not the slightest idea who it could be on the list of 5. But it is a very exciting list, to a very interesting one. Few weeks ago we never had certain options, and now we do.

Told you about TN, now JM has endorsed and confirmed it. Serge was very keen on going to Italy, but certain factors which I will not mention here, all but put an end to that, though things can change.

I said initially we were not in for a LB, and said seems that may have changed, though it was not an area we wanted to improve. The reason we were looking was in case we loaned out Sess. But! He is not being loaned out. And we have Cirkin, and have heard no talks about him or White being loaned out?

Kim we are highly keen on, but if we cannot do a deal, it is a possibility we revisit in January, unless we bring in an opportunity CH from elsewhere.

GB is gathering super pace, and looking good. Player himself has instructed his agents to make it happen. I would say there is two parties that can frustrate that, and it is RM throwing an unworkable condition in the deal, which they have a history of doing. Or someone from his side being bone-headed about the conditions of the deal. Please remain pessimistic at this point. DL is all over this, with all the nuisances our side covered within reason.

if we acquire all the above, will only be outs and not ins after this. Possibility couple of ins to cover the under 21’s. I said ‘Possibility’ not a cert!
You still with me? Hold on, we had more......

Trix came back with more on Bale
Bale. Quite simple really(although not simple at all). Good news is that the deal is there to be done, and all 3 parties are happy for it to happen.

The problem is it's still an unprecedented amount of money for DL. As I've said recently Levy likes to balance the books in as many ways as he can, and with this it just isn't possible. This is a huge gamble financially in a time where money is at its most uncertain. On the plus side it's been Levy all the way driving this, and he must have known from the outset that is the case, and he's persued it anyway. That gives me hope he will pull the trigger.

It's now a case imo of heart or head, for DL. Can he justify the obscene expenditure in uncertain times, I mean he's not pushed the boat out when we've had spare cash, so will he do it now when we don't.

I think right now this could go either way and if we decide to do it, it will happen quickly.

I will say it's a deal just for us. Should we not do it, other clubs will not get the same terms(as things stand) so not as easy to get gazumped at this point in time.

JJ spot on all down to Levy, but knowing a lot of the financials I could totally understand if we don't get this over the line.
I'm all ears, as Gareth Bale said when Madrid originally wanted to sign him :cautious:

Then Trix rounded it all off with this
I don't think from our pov it's going to get any better than it is now. Big decision.
And that's where we finished.

But in the media.......(This section is FYI and not for discussion in this thread)

The Daily Mail said that Tottenham may rival Manchester United for the signature of Real Madrid and Spain left-back Sergio Reguilon, 23

The Express reckon that Spurs are in talks with Trabzonspor over a deal for Norway striker Alexander Sorloth. The 24-year-old is on a two-year loan from Crystal Palace and the Turkish club have an obligation to buy if he starts half of their matches this season

L'Arena via The Sun suggest that Tottenham have entered the race to sign Hellas Verona and Albania centre-back Marash Kumbulla. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with the 20-year-old

A spokesman for Spurs Community said if this is the standard of player we're targeting, we're fucked.
I wonder who that might have been?

Sure this will evoke a "goodfella's Tommy" type response, but you're a real funny guy!

Such a pleasure to wake up to your amusing musings.

Sorloth is quite advanced I’m told

I have no idea what happens if we have deals agreed for 3 or 4 strikers , there was a discussion at one point re taking 2 if we can move some players out so we would always have one on bench if one was injured but we are in confirmed talks on 4 strikers now

sorloth , Portuguese lad , Celtic boy and Milik

Ironic that the order listed is probably not only the order of how advanced they are but also the reverse order of preference for the fans!

Well I guess thats why Jose said we'll def have a striker in then, we are probably going to go to the line with all of them and make the call at that point.

Although if we are planning on getting 2, it would make no sense to have both sorloth and Vinicius. Milik is a bit different so maybe him and one of the others?! Although if we bring in Bale two strikers is overkill

Schizophrenic would be my general assessment of what the hell is going on behind the scenes - which at least is better than the sh*t show on the pitch

Not overly excited re Sorloth but any of the others are ok.
It’s the moving players out bit that worries me tho

Thanks for the info Dragon. Looks like we are continuing our policy of buying anyone, as long as they are cheap, just to tick the boxes

Tbh I don’t think there is a lot of difference between the 4 of them.
Perhaps it will come down to the financials and who else we able to get in with one of them

Thanks for the information but I am absolutely 99,9% sure we won't buy two senior strikers. No way Jose.

Good news that we’re progressing with forward talks. However you can have all the attackers in the world, but it’s pointless if you can’t get the ball to them.

I reckon we could afford Bale and two Strikers if we abandon our entire scouting team. Don't really need them when we have SC to provide expert analysis on all these targets, even from minor leagues with minimal available televised coverage

I've seen us sign enough players who are so say brilliant and turn out to be absolute stinkers, regardless of track record. I am happy for the club to sign whichever striker they (hopefully JM) think is best, and I don't particularly care who it is as long as it's who JM wants, as I'm also a bit jaded from having years of signing strikers who are doomed to fail because we don't play them in the way they need to be played.

Personal preference is the 'Celtic boy' as long as he's also the 'French boy', but also open to being surprised by Sorloth.

(edit: I see John's obsession with my posts is still continuing... :ROFLMAO: )
