I don't necessarily read that as "we need to sell before we can buy", more that "the books (specifically around wages) need to be balanced by the end of the window".
Provided we have deals in the pipeline to shift players out then I think we'll press ahead.
Would be excited to upgrade the left side of defence and whilst I would have preferred an established striker with Prem experience, I'd pretty much take anything in that position at the moment.

I wouldn't say anything he's said means he's confident - just keeps telling people not to worry themselves about it.

To an extent, it’s the same thing. JJ would know very well that “don’t worry” will be perceived by the great majority as confidence on his part. And he’s not the type to troll. He therefore chooses his words carefully. So he must have some confidence that the deal will be done, at least.

Lazio lad?

The quotes are from a discussion with someone whose tweets I can't see, hopefully someone here can to see what was said on both sides.
Not surprising re Daka, RB don't sell cheaply so can't see us being in a position to do business with them especially these days
Can't remember his name! He ended up at Monaco I think. Basically, JJ went all in one evening & by the morning the lad had changed his mind. He said at the time he'd be weary in future, he really did take it hard!

EDIT: Keita Balde

Latest from JJ in response to the statement ‘I guess we are saving the announcement for tomorrow’:

When did I ever say anything about an announcement deadline...?
Don’t worry
I have no idea who or what he's referring to ?

Obviously can’t speak on his behalf, but remember in one of the last couple of windows he said something along the lines of “if it happens it happens, no point worrying about it” kinda thing.

Time will tell, but based purely on the fact we’re so desperate (and other clubs know it). It’ll drag onto the last day of the window and it’ll be a game of who buckles first regarding the fee.

Some more movement although very slow regarding Bale yesterday. Ongoing but still moving in the right direction. Nothing normal about this one so how it pans out I don't know. Got a good feeling regarding the #1choice CF, I've been confident from the start we'd get one, and I feel it still.

Thanks Trix, hope our number 1 target comes and can give us a lift this season. Excited to see who it is considering he is our target above all the others that have been mentioned, must be a good player.

Press stating Millik is No1 choice, but ITK all appear to be in unison that the No1 choice is actually not being widely reported in the media. There does appear a confident undertone to the ITK this year, albeit with the usual level of caution due to past windows. Just got to let the window play out.

Wow. Doherty, PEH, Bale* and new striker plus clear out some liabilities and promote some youth suddenly makes this season very exciting.

I always think Trix adds his own heap of salt before he posts his information so this is positively gushing by his standards.
Cheers Trix.

Positive ITK from Trix.

If this striker target is one that is not just a cheap backup and is seen as a potential competitor to Kane then it is worth waiting a bit longer regardless of the fixture pileup. We just have to hope using Lamela as a 9 or something gets us through the EL qualifiers until we bring one in so that Kane and Son don't get burned out.

I won't mention Bale here as I want to keep my rectum intact.

Strong ITK from JJ there!

It's not often he's so confident, especially after he was burnt after that lad from Lazio a few summers ago, so this is promising.

However, this has reminded me why I originally left twitter! The amount of stress heads losing their minds over this striker situation is concerning. How do these people cope with the rigours of every day life!!!

Between studying for GCSEs, a bit of fawning over girls they can’t get, way too much time on Xbox and having all their nutritional needs provided by mum and dad, they really don’t have much to cope with.

The Bale stuff is very exciting but it just feels that there’s so many points at which it could go tits up, most of all at whatever point Utd realise they’re not signing Sancho.

You and JJ seem so chilled about the forward that somehow it’s making me more nervous, and I’m the biggest happy clapping see good in everything bsodl wanker going.

Bale + a CF would definitely give me a good feeling about making top four next season. Even challenging top 3.
