Is gazzaniga even going anywhere? if not it’s a great 3rd choice who brings experience, relatively low wages and homegrown. That should then allow whiteman and Austin to get some game time on loan

This is a no brainer ! Home grown and free only 33 that’s a few years as back up and filling a home grown spot! He may not be what he used to be but he has that winning mentality Jose loves and his experience would be a big lift too

If he’s a good guy to have in the dressing room, he could probably be our 3rd choice for another 5 or 6 years ?

No he isnt. Gazza’s much better than him. He’s a #3 keeper for us. Backup for a lower Prem side. He isnt that good a keeper anymore. And Hugo could always get hurt again. Gazzaniga has to be the #2. If he os sold, we need another #2.
But how about if it enabled us to sign some like say Sabitzer?

Because we HAVE to consider the HG quota.

Its about balancing risk.

A few million quid and a non-HG squad space?

True and I would not be completely against it if our coaches think the same. Especially if Gazza would block a transfer like Sabitzer or a RB target.

Although I am not sure I want to rely on Hart and a bloke from the academy if Hugo is out for a longer period.

Decent signing. Wealth of experience that will surely be an addition to the dressing room. Free. Can't imagine his wages will be big. Homegrown.

Who do you want as backup? Neuer?

Home grown 3rd choice keeper makes sense but thought Joe Hart would want to go somewhere to be first choice

Joe hart doesn't have any club right now ... Nobody wants him as their second choice, let alone first choice ... He would be happy here with third choice which is actually very good choice for him at this stage of his career ...

Chelsea have Rob Green, City have Scott Carson. Seems a lot of clubs have cheap (ish), ageing HG players as their third choice. Hart probably the best of the bunch in that regard, despite the last few years.

Sensible signing.

Great signing just to be around the squad as well for me. He has won lots with City and by all accounts is a great pro.

Cannot see how it can be a bad thing as a second choice keeper.
