Hard to believe that a potential window of Max Aarons, Callum Wilson, Hojbjerg and the Korean CB will take us back to being able to compete.

Always easier to buy player to push to top 4. Problem is going from 2-4 to 1st

Jose celebrated simply because i think he thinks we will win the Europa League... it is like he celebrated a trophy and maybe he was beforehand haha...

Either way, it really doesnt bother me the way he celebrated.

It enrages the fun police though, which is fine by me!

He celebrated, as he knows for the next 6-8 weeks he doesn't have to sit there watching such turgid shite..

If Arsenal had celebrated like JM did at the end of the palace game we’d be pissing ourselves at the “small time” of it all.

I’m glad we finished 6th (on goal difference) and a few points ahead of our fiercest rivals (and SUFC?).

don’t get me wrong, happy we salvaged something from this season but that celebration was for the cameras (and Amazon).

It didn't enrage me but it was a little odd the way they celebrate and did the whole "Campione, Campione, ole, ole ole" type dance

We had just secured a place in the Europa League. Which is quite an accomplishment considering we were in 14th place just a couple of months ago.

I completely understand why he and the rest of the coaching staff celebrated.

This 14th place stuff is so over done as if a European place was a miracle.

When Poch was sacked we may have been 14th but we were 3 points off 5 place and a -3 goal difference worse than 5th place (Yes 3 points)

We had over 2/3 of the season to make up 3 points on 5th place.

We finished in 6th place still 3 points off 5 place and a -12 goal difference worse than the team in 5th.

That's not my definition of quite an accomplishment.

For me, it wasn’t a miracle but Jose wanted that European place, which means that we will have a real go at winning a decent trophy, which is also a pathway to the CL and the man himself knows how to win it. Therefore, I’m not blown away by finishing where we did but I’m not going to be mealy mouthed about it either.

But we wasn't getting a top six finish under pocb, so all in all I think we had an ok finish to the season.

I agree with you and I think it's great that we got over the line to finish 6th.

We had also taken 24 points from the last 25 games which is relegation form and 2/3 of a season.

except that we were trending down. Don’t even think we would have recouped and recovered if poch stayed. For some reason he lost the team. So yes it’s an accomplishment Mourhino got us up to 6th.
Now all eyes on Mourhino as he is given the oppy to reshape the team with a tight budget etc.

I, for one, was delighted to see Jose and his coaching team celebrate in a huddle like they did. If you're trying to create and build something you set milestones/objectives along the way and then allow the team to enjoy the steps.
In itself it's not a massive achievement but it's a step towards it so you get the team round and congratulate them. Perfectly wise management. Always celebrate small achievements on route to your overall goal. Jose wants to win the Europa. A trophy and another route to Champions league.

During that time we went through a patch where Kane was injured for two and a half months, including three league matches where Son was injured as well. We took one point from those three matches and I'm not sure any manager on the planet could have done any better, there was simply nothing to work with.

Jose took a woefully unbalanced squad that had been in relegation form (including the worst away form in the league) dating back to the previous January and managed to get it across the line for European qualification even despite the fact that the lack of sufficient cover for Kane cost us massively yet again.

Even though it's not aesthetically pleasing by any means, Jose is clearly putting his stamp on the club and making us much more resolute, despite the personnel shortcomings. Give him a DM and improved fullbacks and there's every reason to believe he can be successful moving forward.

Jose haters: "He's not Tottenham..." "He's a negative force and doesn't care about the club..."

Jose shows pride and passion for the team after reaching the objective the club set for the remainder of the season.

Jose haters: "Ew. So embarrassing." "Laughable."

Bunch of clowns.

I think a real glimmer of light is that Man U and Chelsea hardly look like world beaters. They were not that far in front of us and we have had a shocker of a season. I expect us to be far better next season, certainly points in the bag wise even if the football sucks balls.
They're there for the taking definitely.

Tight or almost non existent, in all seriousness I'm not looking forward to waiting until early October to see us scramble 1/2 over the line.
But I think Jose will be forced to throw a couple of academy players in to liven up the squad which is always nice to see HG come through.

Yeah both are quite dangerous going forward, but look shaky as fuck at the back.
