I think it’s the plastic Liverpool fans down south that really makes me not like them. You have to say though they do have a very good home support that helps them get over the line in a lot of games. Anfield probably gets them another 15 points a season. We’ll always find it harder to win the league because our support especially since we’ve got better rarely pull us through the tight games and we probably have the most derby/grudge matches in the league. I really struggle to see us winning the league, at least with the current owners in charge.

As someone who loves and enjoys football, I would like to be able to sit and watch them play with admiration for what it is. Top drawer, cut and thrust football. Their front 3 are devastating.

But its those niggly little things that ruin that appreciation. The fan base obviously, especially the horde of London based plastics that have cropped up over the last few years. But really its that media arse licking that you don't see for other clubs. Like Dalglish reading a program, and the commentator saying "oh that's a really good idea by Liverpool Football Club, to keep producing the programmed", like no other club in existence has done the exact same fucking thing.

I'm not saying this as a bitter Spurs fan either... everyone sees this. My Evertonian mate has gone into hibernation, it's so bad.

Why?

They've dominated the league.
They're solid defensively & are exciting going forward.
They're strong across the pitch having invested well & bringing through their young players.

If you're a fan of the game & the way it is played, I believe they should be applauded.
Go tell them that on their site.

It is a bit weird people saying congratulations tbh
I mean, I get it... when there's so much division and disruptive shite going on in the world, you want to just cast tribalism as petty as football team supporting aside, and just appreciate some good football, and applaud them for that.

But it just doesn't feel right.

Yep! Coming from up north I was pleasantly surprised when I moved to London at the lack of l’pool shirts I would see. Since their CL win though I’ve seen loads just in the area I live let alone out and about in London.
There was a group of their fans in my local pub (before lockdown) I hadn’t seen any of their fans in there before in 7yrs

I don't. I appreciate how they've won the league. They've been bloody brilliant and streets ahead of everyone else. But I won't congratulate them or any of my Liverpool supporting mates for it.

Football is tribal and having that tribalism to enjoy again amongst all the other shite going on in the world is a wonderful thing. And I never could stand that shower of sanctimonious f**kers. So I'm going to indulge my petty side and begrudge them the title win and, as dominant as they've been, if they had to win it, I'm happy they won it in the shIttiest circumstances possible.

It means less.

As a Spurs plastic from up North, I can hardly be one to talk about not supporting a club from where you're from. But I reckon I was likely the only Spurs fan in all of North Yorkshire when I was a kid. As opposed to all the 20 something Liverpool fans I see down here now.

Imagine if we actually showed ambition in summer 2017. That's what really hurts. The roles could easily be reversed right now.

Does make you wonder what could have been...

We really should have won the league at least once - we were so good for two seasons.

Despite the lack of investment in our squad, I think just getting one trophy under our belt, even the league cup, would have given us that little taste of winning to push us over the line.

Yep. Too bad it was the right players, right manager, wrong chairman, wrong owner and wrong time. Dear Leader wouldnt know an opportunity if it slapped him in the face. He doesnt have the fortitude to take a risk and do what it takes to win. Lewis doesnt have it either. We’ll never win with these 2 at the helm.

***Im so bitter ive reported about 20 tweets wanking off liverpool for abuse.

I knew I would log in this morning and see people posting "it could have been us" type posts. If only ENIC were more like FSG. The reality is that even if ENIC had given Pochettino a blank chequebook in 2017 and told him to bring in whoever he wanted, it's still extremely unlikely we'd have ever become as good as they are now. Case in point - Sheikh Mansour literally has given Guardiola, one of the best managers in the history of the sport, a blank chequebook and even he couldn't produce a team that was as good as this Liverpool one. What they've done is more than just about having funds available, it's been about making intelligent acquisitions in the transfer market, top class coaching and tactical training, and creating a winning culture.

FSG and ENIC operate in fairly similar ways - they both make sure the club runs at a sustainable level but tend to re-invest major windfalls into the side. We sold Keane and Berbatov for big money then bought Modric, Corluka, Bentley, Gomes, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe, Palacios and then re-signed Keane in the same season. We sold Modric for big money and signed Lloris, Dembele and Vertonghen with the funds. We sold Bale and signed the "magnificent seven". Sometimes we've been good at this, sometimes not. FSG sold Suarez for big money and re-invested it with Balotelli, Lambert, Markovic, Lovren and Lallana - that was poor. But then in 2018 they sold Coutinho (and got the CL final windfall money) and re-invested it into Van Dijk, Alisson and Fabinho. As has been pointed out before, their net spend is actually not so different to ours, the two owners are operating a very similar strategy - difference is ENIC were better at it from 2010-2015 whereas FSG have been better at it for the last five years. That's all there is to it really. For similar money to what we spent on Lucas they signed Firmino. For similar money to what we spent on Sissoko they signed Salah. For the money we spent on Juan Foyth they signed Andy Robertson. When we had our Champions League windfall we signed Ndombele, Sessegnon and Clarke - none of which we can get onto the pitch, for the same money that they spent on Alisson and Fabinho when they got theirs - the best GK and DM in the league respectively. Yes I know they spend more on wages - but face the facts guys, they are a bigger and richer club than we are and that's the whole point of moving to the new stadium, so that when it is paid off we will be able to compete for those kinds of contracts.

It's not just about money, it's about being smart with it, and I think that what Klopp and his staff have done is far smarter than anything I've seen from Tottenham management in my time. When we didn't sign anyone in 2018 then Levy had apparently committed a war crime, but Liverpool literally didn't sign anyone last summer and have gotten even better. That's because Klopp is not only a superior tactician (imagine him randomly playing Mane at left-back in a semi-final or leaving Salah out of the starting XI in the final after he scored a hat-trick in the semi), but he is also loved by all of his players, he's kept everyone motivated, created a hugely positive atmosphere around the club and his players would die for him - and whilst we'll never know for sure it seems Poch's relationship with some of our players (am thinking Eriksen, Alderweireld, Rose and Trippier) was deteriorating and the atmosphere was sour - and I'm not so sure Mourinho is going to get it back to what it was. That doesn't mean I don't think we could have improved by taking a few more risks - clearly we've been too cautious in the last couple of years and we're seeing the results of it now. But whilst I think we could easily have been ahead of Chelsea and Leicester this season - to suggest we'd have been able to get as good as a team that's breaking all sorts of records and will likely go down as one of the best teams in English football history is a bit of a stretch - we should not have it on our conscience that we let them get better than us - far richer and bigger clubs than we have ever been have never gotten this good.

On reflection it's more relief. The fact they have now won the premiership will finally put to bed the constant drivel from the likes of Carragher, Souness, Redknapp and Thompson on LFCTV about when they will the premier League and maybe, just maybe they make start talking about other teams.

On another note, this is where I point out only one of the Premier League Big Six have now not won it and let's be honest we wouldn't have it any other way!

The BBC football website is literally all about Liverpool from top to bottom. I don’t begrudge them their title win but the media are going to be going on and on about it for weeks with the amount of media presence that they have.

I dunno, I think it only got sour the longer we went without winning anything. During our two title run seasons, I'd say we had a squad that would die for Poch on the pitch. Unfortunately for us, towards the end of our final season at WHL the clubs wage structure started to bite us in the arse when City tapped up Walker who would treble his wages and that changed the mood for a lot of players. Alderweireld and Rose were after bigger wages. Eriksen eventually got bored of not winning anything here. Not sure what happened with Tripper.

The moment I saw Neil Mellor as a pundit on Sky Sports was when I realised the fixation the media have with Liverpool Football Club. This is a guy who scored one last minute goal against Arsenal and was never heard off again. It would be the equivalent of Rory Allen representing our club on Sky Sports.

A deserved win. This shows how a team with a game plan and consistency over time, develops into a winning team.
