Sky aren’t quite Talk Sport Levels but they’re not that far off. It’s a shame. One of the best thing about buying in to sky in the past was their analysis and professionalism but in recent years they just decided to wrap themselves up in the drama and narrative of the game. They so far up their own arses they see themselves as a cog within the game.

The problem with Sky is that their B-team pundits are generally awful. Monday night football where Neville and Carragher sit down and chat about the games is great. But midweek games and we are stuck with this kind of shite.

Redknapp is particularly terrible, annoyingly so. He doesn’t add any kind of thoughtful analysis, and has terrible knowledge of players and their skill sets. A clear example is him saying Lo Celso wasn’t a ball player. I mean Jesus.

VAR disallows a goal for a minute, imperceptible infringement, and the pundits are up in arms.

Spurs win a home game with a competent performance. SC is up in arms about VAR.

It's the whole industry really. It feeds on controversy. In large part because a lot of pundits have no interesting insights to add or are reluctant to do so.

The latter point really annoys me, if you are a football player surely you can offer some great insights into analysing player technique, a manager on tactical things and all that, but only but a few pundits ever add anything to it. I think in part it's because a lot of these industries think they are talking to a bunch of idiots and don't understand that even an average fan is able to follow much more than they understand as they repeat the bleeding obvious or patronise the audience with really shallow takes.

Also, particularly co-commentators seem to do incredibly little pre-match prep by the looks of things, as they give 'hot takes' about players with little understanding of them.

Anyway best just ignore it, don't bother with it, just lessens football into some crap soap opera.

Don't feed the trolls. Nothing to see here but a deserved three points.

Great pace and composure by Kane by the way for his goal. Pleased to see we don't have to flog him to S****horpe or a glue factory just yet.
Quite funny how in the Kane thread many said he wouldn't do well in Jose's system cause he doesn't play on the counter.

He only bloody goes and scores on the counter haha.

Moyes insisting the first goal should've been disallowed
trying to detract attention from another insipid performance. If it was disallowed what significant difference would it have made? The goal was coming, ok it is possible they might have kept it level or even nicked a win, but they didn't lose because of the own goal. They lost because they weren't good enough.

I think he’s trying to deflect away from the own goal tbh. Much better for the West Ham team to rally around an “injustice” than to say the goal wouldn’t have happened if the defender had just stood still.

No excuse for Sky though.

Gives pundits like Redknapp something to talk about other than the tactical side or anything with the slightest bit of insight

Totally agree, but you can bet your life if the same thing occurs against us in the next match the opinions will be different ( not necessarily from you, but in general (y)).

Trying to deflect from the fact that if we'd scored one more they'd be in the relegation zone. Hope they beat Chelsea with their home crowd behind them, admittedly.

Unless it's some way of making him hungry and eager to play, i don't see why he don't deserves even 15min of game time. If not for the own goal, we could be trying to break down the West Ham defence.

As for Kane, i'm tired of the same narrative we cant get an decent backup or young forward. With his injuries record and him just coming back from one, running him till 90min today just not benefit him long term even our next game is 9 days away.
Don't agree. He needs to get up to full match fitness and the best way to do that is to push your body beyond it's current limit. In 2 games we've seen him get sharper already.

If he has him play every minute of the next 7 games, particularly the 3 in 6 days coming up, then you definitely have a point.

It's how I describe Dier's last two performances at CB - and I'll fucking take it. Poch always said he could be World class there - maybe he was right.

With a little bit of better finishing, we'd have strolled that by 4 or 5.

Would you still be uninspired then?

Exactly.

Look the first 25 minutes were laboured, in fact I'd say they looked a bit sharper in that period.

Thereafter we gradually got going and we produced some slick stuff towards the end of the first half.

Second half was good and after the changes we looked like scoring everytime we went forward.

Really should of been 3 or 4.

I think the signs are good. Look more solid at the back and starting to see some good attacking football.

That's the balance you need to be successful.
