I agree, his physical attributes may not stack up against others but he is very mobile and a tidy player generally. I can see he wants to make us tick in the middle of the park but he needs that dominant mid player that will slow him to play with more freedomYou cant learn athleticism though, at least not to the level that Winks needs to get to for the DM role.
Preach.Winks doesn’t have enough in his locker for peeps to say he needs the luxury of a DM alongside. To free him to do what?
Recycle possession along the back line? It’s not enough.
Sisskos lack of creativity, and Lamelas extra touch and poor final ball means as a three working the central spaces the other night meant we rarely got out of our own half.
our forwards just don’t get enough service
we love that he’s spurs and a decent fella and a quick turn, burst of pace, but not the lack of ambition and creativity that follows it
offers nothing defensively other than marking space
bench
If he's terrible on defense and offers nothing offensively then why is he fine as a squad player?Preach.
He legit offers nothing. Terrible on defense and brings nothing offensively.
Fine as a squad player, we shouldn't sell but he should be playing cup games, being a sub and in a three for rotation only.
Still for me hard to judge as again played him alongside Sissoko (gah those two together...) rather than a proper 4-3-3 with a specialist defensive midfielder in there.
I think he should be a double 8, or mezzala, either side of a 6. He and his game is limited in the double pivot role. And we possibly have better than him in that position (Celso, Lamela, Ndombele etc)I think Winks is a very good player, could go on to be a great player. He’s just not the DM of any midfield.. He’s made for a midfield 3, where he’s not the deepest.. I have no idea why two very very top managers keep playing him there..
If you could ask your brother to get more involved in the games and stop playing hide and seek for 90 mins, we would appreciate it.Stick with Winks, he is going to be a club legend. No doubt in my mind.
Or maybe make a tackle or interception. Or chip in with an assist. If you could ask your brother to get more involved in the games and stop playing hide and seek for 90 mins, we would appreciate it.
Send him our love!

For me honestly......he was once a player I had so much excitement for but truth is Poch killed him he seen a player he wanted to see in him a bit of a pet project he wanted to turn him into xavi (a tempo, sideways passing, heartbeat player) which he may have been very good at but then our squad broke and Poch decided it was time to stick him as the defensive midfield answer to our team this is where winks form and career started to take a nose dive basically as soon as Eric Dier's form and injuries came it forced Winks into being a Midfield all rounded (which is he isn't).
Poch kind of took everything that was good about Winks and tried to mould him into something new again which I think has actually stagnated his career along with that ankle injury he had.
We have seen glimpes of Mourinho getting old Winks back slightly where he has been allowed to burst forward with the ball and break defensive lines but other than that I think the last time gave young Harry any freedom was when he scored on his debut vs west ham.
He has sadly became the typical thing english press and fans see when they see a technically sound player who doesn't give the ball away. (a player that belongs in spain or italy).
In fact Barcelona produce 20 x Harry Winks a season.....but technically they all have to add something else to their game other than being able to keep the ball and pass the ball neatly sadly Harry did have this he had drive and a no fear attitude but slowly its been coached out of him I guess. He's actually gone backwards since his breakthrough seasons.
I think if he played in Italy,Spain he would be adored as I would know how to use his stature and coach him properly and the way the game is played out there would suit him to a tee and there is a reason I guess while Pep wants him at city but I just do not think he will ever progress to anything other than 5-6/10 player at spurs unless we find a way to utilize his skillset properly.
A midfield of
-------NEW DM------
Winks --------- Lo Celso for tough away games would be a nice base I guess
Then against teams that will park the bus I guess
Winks
Ndombele Lo Celso
In a 4-3-3 would work and this formation still remains the best formational fit for all our players except for the big elephant in the room Dele Alli which is another one of the reasons I think our tactical plan keeps failing is we basically have a luxury player that effects our shape and formation selection as he's to much of a goal threat to remove from the team.
