Why wouldn't there be?

Well I imagine the central thinking is what is the minimum amount of people absolutely required to put a game on. Then having the players and officials standing around doing nothing waiting for VAR several times a game, considerably elongating proceedings, isn't optimum. Particularly if you follow the line of thinking that they were actually considering reducing the length of halves to get things done as fast as possible. Also having the several VAR operatives and the video ref in a booth for a couple of hours isn't ideal. Is it possible to social distance in an enclosed space for that length of time?

I can't see them taking it that far, I am almost certain VAR will continue.

Pretty sure it's still being used in the Bundesliga.

VAR is in a massive room at Stockley Park, their workspace totally supported social distancing previously. And as it is likely there is only ever going to be one match on at time, rather than 5 or 6 on a Saturday afternoon, therefore requiring much less officials in PGMOL's VAR rooms, that aspect can be totally discounted.

If games take place at Premier League venues, Wembley or St. Georges Park, then VAR will be in use.

If they take place at training grounds, or maybe a selection of Midlands grounds where VAR is not installed, it won't be and the League have dispensation for that now temporarily written into their rules

Had a dream last night that football was back on and our first game was against Chelsea at home.

Most of our attacks we’re going down left through Bergwijn who scored in the second half with a low speculative shot that bounced all over the place before going in (VAR had to check it as well).

The Chelsea keeper, who for some odd reason had the face of a lion ? started complaining about the gold plated flooring around his goal area and had a massive gold splinter in his hand, although Jose went and inspected it and thought Lloris was fine there first half and their goalkeeper was a being a bit of a puss.

Chelsea then later on predictably equalised through our shit defending, their bloke was wearing number 20 so presume must have been Hudson-Odei if he’s not in nick by then ??

That's interesting because I had a dream last night that we were playing United in the first game back at home. There were about 1000 fans behind each goal, our fans in the south stand and United fans in the north.

We took the lead just before half time through Kane with a Toby at Villa esque goal at the south stand so was celebrating with our fans.

I woke up while it was half time though unfortunately.

Mine was somewhat normal in comparison to yours.

Those who say they’re not excited about the return because they’ve realised they’re no longer in love with football and it doesn’t add positively, or even it does add negatively, to their lives? Fair enough, good luck.

Those who say they’re not fussed because we’re not that good anymore and they’ve lost passion for the club due to downturn in form, transfer frustrations and missed opportunities? Good riddance. If you can’t support the club equally when things aren’t rosy as you would when it’s all hunky dory, we don’t need you or want you.

For me personally, it has been good to have a break not just from football but sport as a whole - I am looking forward to it resuming, however what the break has taught me is there are more important things than Spurs. I will still support the club 110% however going forward I won't be putting that ahead of other things in my life, which I have in the past.

Knowing there are more than more things than Spurs? Great. I agree. It’s just entertainment.

Loving the club less because we went from being good to being ok for a brief period? Rubbish supporter.

Ive a feeling fans will be back in the stadium sooner than we think anyway. There’s talk of reducing the distance down to a metre between individuals.

It won’t be fair on everyone but that makes it easier to get fans in. Especially in our stadium which because of its layout will be easy to social distance at that level if they operate at a reduced capacity (say season ticket holders only). Sure we might not be able to sit in our own seats but it will be better than nothing if they strand us all out at a distance.
I think they should open up to limited capacity after Christmas if there is no second wave. Reevaluate and gradually increase capacity limits thereafter to eventually get back to full capacity by the start of the 21/22 season.

Is this actually happening?

Read back through this thread and make your own mind up, but there’s plenty of ‘I’m not that bothered because we were playing badly’ stuff.

Although I’m really not a fan of the whole “I’m a better fan than you” bollocks, people who stop supporting us due to a dip in form can stop taking up seats.

What about the queue for the toilet at half time and the queue to get in and queues when leaving the stadium.

There's transport queues to consider as well.

My guess is we'd have to be down to less than half full to have any chance of social distancing.

Of course they’d have to prepare the stadium that much is obvious and people would have to behave accordingly or else it would be stopped. But I think it’s achievable. Public transport is another matter but like I said, our stadium is set up for it more than any other because of the time they can stagger people getting there.

Small update......

Just heard from my contact and they're hoping to get it started between the 8th and 13th of June.

He said it's one million percent going ahead though.

I know it's not groundbreaking but it's all solid info.

Few days out but info was solid.

That totally makes sense starting with those games, as after that stage all teams will have played same number of matches, so if any curtailment necessary, PPG becomes less of an issue, unless curtailment happens halfway through a game week/weekend.
